Mmmmm! Pad Thai! And it looks pretty good, too! And SUMMER rolls? The Teriyaki Chicken looks delish, too!

They have several tables in the restaurant, and 3 stools at a counter. We saw an Asian family heading in there for supper, always a good sign.

There are some Korean dishes on the menu.

For people with MSG sensitivity, they say they will leave it out when requested, and that very few of their sauces/items come preloaded.

I look forward to trying the food!

Ordering take out from them tonight. Will report back tomorrow.

I keep forgetting about this place. Thanks for the review, I"ll put it back on my radar. I just stopped at Lai Lai the Market Central / Secor. Great finds there.

WOW! First off, mega kudos to billy for starting this thread.

Stopped on the way home last night and ordered egg rolls, hot and sour soup, Kimchee Bacon Fried Rice, Hot Braised Fish, Ja-Jung and Chop Chae.

The egg rolls are obviously home made and among the best I've ever had. The hot and sour soup was very good (did need just a touch more "sour" (vinegar) for our tastes but, other than that was spot on. Most Asian/Chinese eateries simply add some zing to their egg drop soup. QQ's is definitely made from scratch as H&S soup.

Kimchee Bacon Fried Rice - never had it before - yum!

Each of the three entres were incredibly tasty as well. If you choose the Hot Braised Fish, I'd recommend eating it at the restaurant as the fish will get a bit soggy but it was still delicious.

As mentioned above, this is obviously a family run operation. And they were all working very hard last night. When I arrived, the tables (4 with 4 seats each) were full and the carryout business was in full swing.

There are plenty of dishes on the menu that will appeal to those who prefer more Americanized Asian food. But, there are also plenty of more "authentic" style Asian and Asian Fusion dishes - which we find most appealing.

Highly, highly recommended.

I've never had kimchee bacon fried rice before, but god damn do I want some now. I'm stopping here next week.

Heading there tonight (Thursday) for carryout. Thinking pan fried dumplings, spring rolls, Bulgogi and whatever Mr. Gamegrrl decides on.

I am dying to try the Pad Thai, but I've always found that better when eating in, as opposed to carryout.

Anyone had the Bulgogi yet?

Not always, it all depends. Kroger used to sell jarred a mild kim che.

For those who've been to QQ, how does it compare to Wei Wei?

Had the craving for the Bacon Kimchi Fried Rice since it was mentioned. Drove by after an engagement around 8:30pm, and was shocked to see how many people were there eating at that time.

The Bacon Kimchi Fried Rice was awesome and plentiful enough I was able to save some to take home for a snack. She asked if I ever had Kimchi before (probably worried I might not know what I am getting into), and once I told her I served 2 peacetime tours in Korea, she asked if I would like a side dish of Kimchi on the side, which I did take advantage of.

The service was exceptional and friendly, the service staff run by the college aged kids in the family, they asked a lot of questions and seemed like they were really interested in YOU.

So now there are 2 favorite restaurants for my Asian cuisine fixes. In love with the pork bulgogi served at Lee Oriental Market on W Laskey Rd. I eat it with seaweed paper (aka Laver or Kim?) wrapped around the rice and pork bulgogi, something I learned on my own when stationed in Korea, but surprisingly viewed as odd by Asians.

The wife and I tried this last night and it was awesome. Fresh spring roll, fried spring rolls, schezuan tofu and chicken pad thai. It was all great. I wish we ordered the pad thai with some spice. We were the only white people in there and from the time we went in to leaving there were 8 groups of other Asians who left or came. Chinese, Thai and Koren food all at one place?! Next time it's the bacon kimchi fried rice, spicy!

Sorry for dropping the ball on this. Yes, we did get carryout from QQ and it was awesome! Got the Spring Rolls (which were good, but kind of "earthy" tasting for me) and the Beef Bulgogi, which was excellent! Oh, and we got the pan fried dumplings, and they were just ok.

(Dumpling hint: Fresh Market. No kidding. They are AWESOME!)

I, too, noticed that the clientele was primarily Asian, which tells me it's GOOD Asian food across the board.

Also thought it was interesting that all the other carryout order customers were eager to talk about the food with me. "OMG. Isn't the food here great??? Oh, you've never had their food? Well you are going to LOVE IT! We've been coming here two or three times a week since we discovered it."

Next time, I will try the Pad Thai (with a bit of heat) and Mr. Gamegrrl will try something different too, I'm sure.

When I got home from work last night, I couldn't resist heating up the leftover Pad Thai. I didn't have very high expectations, as I have 'leftover issues', but turns out that it was AWESOME! Perhaps even better than just-made!

Just got back from there, had the beef bulgogi and an egg roll. Pretty tasty although I wish I had gone with the kimchee bacon fried rice or one of the noodle dishes.

Its no Wei Wei but its damn good

Oh game girl, c'mon be a little adventurous!! Have you seen any bad reviews out here? You cant not eat somewhere for fear of not liking something! What's the worst that could happen? You get a meal you dont like?? I know I got some meals I didnt like from my own Mom, who's the best cook ever!!

Give it a shot, and if you dont like it, they can cook you up something you've had before in a jiffy - or if you're really afraid, there's a subway and a Del Taco within walking distance of the place.

LOL! Well, we typically have QQ deliver, so it wouldn't be as easy as having them whip up something else for me if I don't like it.

I will probably have Mr. Gamegrrl order something for himself that I like, then I'll order the bacon kimchee fried rice. If I don't like it, he will swap with me :-)

One word for this place: AMAZING! They truly know what they are doing. I've also noticed that it appears business is booming. Each time I go to pick up carryout, the place is packed, the phone is ringing off the hook for to go orders and it also appears they've hired more staff. Great to see a family take a chance and have it be successful.

Tried this place once a little while back and I'm a fan. They may not have "the best chef in the USA" like King's Chef out in Sylvania, but it'll do in a pinch!

I can't remember their exact wording, but something like "best chef in the usa" is on their takeout menu. It is such an absurd claim I always laugh about it with people. Before QQ came along, it was the best Chinese I'd had in the area. Granted, I've only been to QQ once and I haven't tried every place in town.

It's in a strip mall at the corner of Sylvania & McCord. It's pretty standard, as far as US Chinese is concerned, but it's always been pretty good as far as I'm concerned. Just don't expect anything special.

Just tried QQ Kitchen today for the first time and really enjoyed the food. We sampled a wide variety of items, some of which have been discussed above (like the tasty Kimchee Bacon Fried Rice and the homemade spring rolls).

I ordered the wonton soup and it far exceeded my expectations; the inclusion of a few good-sized shrimp made this soup a bargain at $2.75. The Black Bean noodle entree was very tasty and had dense layers of tastes going on. The tea was even served fresh with loose leaves steeping in one of those wire mesh tea infusers: nice touch.

The place was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and there was quite an intriguing ambience with a wide range of ethnic groups represented among the patrons. Even more interesting was when some buskers came in singing for flood relief; they looked like South Asians, and their surreal and impromptu rendition of Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You" made me think I was a million miles from plain old Toledo.

Anyway, it was a $28 lunch for two since I went a bit crazy trying appetizers and soups, but this was still an excellent bargain, as we have enough leftovers for an entire hefty meal for one person. So if you have forgotten to try this place, get off your duff and go there today.

I didn't care for it. I found it... bland.

after reading this thread, my wife and i gave it a shot. We were very happy we did.

we order a few apps to get a wider impression on the food. my wife got a soup (hot and sour, i believe) and a summer roll. She loved both, especially the summer roll with its peanut sauce. I just got a spring roll, which i also liked alot.

for entrees, my wife got some kind of sesame chicken. Again, she loved it. i got the kung pao w/ tofu. my dish was very tasty, but i wish there was a little more heat to the dish.

all things considered, we were very happy for it. you get alot of food for a good price. plus, it's only two miles from our home, so it will be great for take out.

i just wish i could get a beer w/ dinner (the only downer of the visit).

Is everything ok over at QQ Kitchen? They were closed Saturday night (1/5/2013), Sunday (1/6/2013), and Monday (1/7/2013).

UPDATE: They are, indeed, open today (1/8/2013). Thank goodness.

Saw a new QQ sign up in the plaza across from Walmart on Glendale.

I wonder why the name "QQ"? There's also a QQ nails place on Airport and Holloway, makes me suspect some sort of Korean tradition in that name I know it has some meaning in online gaming and it's a Chinese version of like an AOL, but I can't believe that this name is associated with either of those things.

QQ is shortand for a Chinese slang word equivalent to our "cool." It is also the name of their most prevalent internet instant messaging software.

Visited QQ for the first time last evening and the second time tonight. Yesterday I ordered take out and had the fun experience of watching the chef at the wok cook. Tonight we dined in and I was hoping for a seat around the kitchen but we ended up at a table.

Enjoyed the Dragon Phoenix Chicken (chef special) last evening and opted for the waiters suggestion this evening of the Chicken Pad Thai. I am intentionally avoiding my favorites of Orange Chicken, Mongolian Beef and General Tsao to first force myself to try something different.

I enjoyed both meals, especially the Chicken Pad Thai - I can't recall a similar dish - very unique for me. Prices are reasonable. It definitely has a family/private atmosphere. We'll be going back.

Top restaurants I discovered through Toledo Talk: 5th Street Pub (my personal favorite pizza in Toledo now), Wei Wei Noodles, QQ, and Mani Osteria and oh yeah, Koreana.

all great spots! if you haven't checked out the new Koreana (in the old FiFi's) it's worth a visit.
