A new low for the GOP: attacking candidates for online gaming

http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2012/10/candidate-for-maine-state-senate-attacked-for-warcraft-character/

The Republican Party of Maine has revealed that Democratic State Senate candidate Colleen Lachowicz has a secret life that she's been hiding from voters. Drug use? A Swiss bank account? No, sadly, even worse: she has a scary-looking World of Warcraft character.

"Colleen Lachowicz spends hundreds of hours playing in her online world Azeroth, as an Orc Assassination Rogue named Santiaga," reads a flyer sent to voters in the district. It's identified as funded by the Maine Republican Party.

OK, so she's into an alternate reality. So what?

She is no more likely to apply the Orc Assassination Party principles as Rich Iott was to apply the prinicples of the Waffen SS as a representative.

A new, new low is always preceded by the previous new low.

Playing fantasy roll playing online is more than a little different than running around in a Nazi uniform and then going on Anderson Cooper and then telling us we can’t really judge the Nazi. No Rich, we can really judge the Nazis.

The article states that she had made past online comments about not getting anything done at work, because she was playing World of Warcraft all day on the job.

(Side note: I can never run for public office, in fear that my frequency of posting during business hours would be revealed.) ;)

The people who re-enacted the battle of 1812 this summer don't "run around in" British Naval uniforms any more than Rich Iott "ran around" in a Waffen SS uniform.

Is taking comments out of context a new, new low, or an old new low?

What are we up to here, five new lows?

Funny thing but that popped up as content restricted so I didn't bother to watch.

What's your problem with missiles anyhow? Other than the typical Republican envy of anything that dwarfs their imaginary penises, that is?
