Tidbit found on CL Anyone know the story?

The landlords left My Family of 7 homeless because he didn't want to maintain the home. There is a hole in the roof, water pools into the house. Mold is everywhere. I have the health department letter, I turned them in, and the letter showing that it's not habitable. They had 7 days to fix all 3 pages of violations, that was Sept 7. Still not one thing fixed. They text at 4am bullying us. Even called the police on us, but he wont evict us...because he knows he would lose in court. We lost our family dog of 7 years, we
sleep in tents. Job and family services is trying to help but no real answers yet. If you believe they did my Family wrong, please feel free to spread the word. Rite Investments, Ltd. They also own exotic air fresheners.

The house sits on Moline Martin rd.
Dont rent it if they try to rent it out, you are risking health issues."

I wish them luck on solving their problems and digging themselves out of their hole.

There has to be a half dozen agencies in Wood County that would help. It seems using CL to voice a concern is a waste of time. Also - blaming the school? Something doesn't make sense here...like always.

I think the blaming the school for bullying the children about sleeping in tents and the bus transportation being canceled not because of the situation that put them there.

If they moved - was the bus supposed to follow? Not sure I understand. Hard to get mail at a state park - No friends, no family, no church, no support system. Again, something doesn't add up. Maybe the school should call children services? Maybe they have.

Putting it on CL is just bizarre. They could have easily written a letter to the editor of the Blade or contacted a local news station. Not saying that they didn't but I'd be surprised if they did.

I fail to see how the parents failure to provide for their children is the schools fault.

The house in question is at 5902 Moline Martin Road. The mailing address for Rite Investments Ltd. is 1302 Holloway Rd. in Holland but I don't know of any buildings in the 1300 block of Holloway. Maybe it is/was a tent!

Not sure what state park they might be staying in, the only one in Wood County is Mary Jane Thurston down in Grand Rapids. Maumee Bay is closer, but you can't expect a school system to send a bus out of their district. Sorry for their luck, but I doubt the kids were 'bullied', except maybe by other kids, and I have to question, like molsonator, what good will come out of putting it on CL.

Listed at 1302 Holloway Rd. is the Exotica Fresheners Company. Its all light industrial in that stretch of Holloway Rd.

If a school system failed anyone, it was the parents.

I don't doubt that the family is in an awful situation.

But the stuff about the school? 4 am bullying texts from the landlord? Something isn't adding up.

Mine only goes to 10, but the breaker blew before the circuits could fry out. Lucky me, I guess.

Possibly the person has some sort of mental illness and is having a crises moment.

I don't know the story and I don't know the people but I wanted to comment about why they would post it on CL. Sometimes people just feel so much anger at an injustice and feel helpless and they have to get it out. Better to post on CL then to show up at a school and start screaming and threatening.
I'm a blogger and I can't tell you how many pages of blogs I've written on things that have nothing to do with me personally but I am so angry I have to say something.

Found this in the metro press this morning.

Pretty clearly sounds like the family was at fault regarding the school issue.

How can the district follow procedures put in place to protect homeless students, if the family didn't notify the district that they were homeless?

Instead, the family drove the kids each morning to the house they were no longer inhabiting, so that the kids could get on the bus there.

How was the district to know whether the family was homeless, or had simply moved out of district and tried to cheat the system to keep the kids there? (It happens.)

The father said he believed a neighbor told on them, which gave me the impression that they didn't get along with the neighbors. maybe the neighbors would have helped them out, taken them in for the short term or something, but I agree, it really wasn't necessary, except to give that impression. They sound like people who want to make their own rules and who blame everybody else when the world doesn't let them.
