Severe weather outlook for Sunday, October 14, 2012

According to the Storm Prediction Center, northwest Ohio is in the northern edge of the area that has a slight risk for severe thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening. - issued at 8:50 a.m. EDT

This weekend, we're having a little taste of the volatile type of weather that occurs in November. Yesterday morning, Toledo area temps were in the low to mid-30s. Southerly winds warmed our temps to the mid-60s by late last night. Temps have remained in the mid-60s all morning today. Forecast calls for highs today in the lower 70s. We're under a wind advisory until late tonight. Wind speeds will increase this afternoon. We have a slight risk for severe thunderstorms later today. Monday's forecast calls for high temps in the upper 50s.


Wind Advisory

NWS Statement as of 4:03 AM EDT on October 14, 2012

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect from noon today to 11 PM EDT this
evening.

Winds... south 20 to 30 mph with gusts over 45 mph... becoming
southwest this evening.

Timing... winds will increase this afternoon and remain strong as
a cold front moves east across the area this evening.

Impacts... strong winds will cause unsecured objects to blow around.
Small tree limbs may be broken.

Issued at 9:37 a.m. EDT

Today: Cloudy. A chance of showers this morning...then showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Breezy and warmer with highs in the lower 70s. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Tonight: Cloudy. Showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms in the evening...then a chance of showers after midnight. Breezy and cooler with lows in the upper 40s. Southwest winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Monday: Mostly cloudy and breezy. Much cooler with highs in the upper 50s. West winds 15 to 25 mph. Gusts up to 45 mph... Decreasing to 35 mph in the afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a

  • Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
    Lenawee County in Southeast Michigan...
  • until 515 PM EDT
  • at 415 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm
    capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This
    storm was located 7 miles south of Hudson... and moving northeast at
    45 mph. Penny size hail may also accompany these damaging winds.
  • The severe thunderstorm will be near...
    Medina and Canandaigua around 425 PM EDT.
    Clayton and Sand Creek around 430 PM EDT.
    Cadmus and Rome Center around 435 PM EDT.
    Adrian and Onsted around 440 PM EDT.
    Tipton around 445 PM EDT.
    Tecumseh around 450 PM EDT.

The warning includes areas surrounding these locations...

twernt much in Northwood. the wind is cool. love it when the weather changes like this, we had a great day outside, The Hub even managed to paint one wall of the workshop before it rained and had no problem with it afterward! :)
