Anyone else watching this?
Up Up and Away...in my beautiful, my beautiful Balloon..

I'm trying to understand how this guys arms/legs/head doesn't get ripped off either heading into or coming out of supersonic speed.
I'm kind of afraid to watch in case I get a live shot of a torso with separate arms and legs (or head) falling down down down down....
I'll say this...he's a true daredevil for sure. Godspeed...

I know very little of the science, just what I've absorbed without intention over the last 48 years, but I am mesmerized!
fascinating - thanks for the heads-up

I watched it on Discovery channel...seemed almost effortless when he actually jumped. I realize that nothing could be further from the truth, but he made it look so easy....
very, very cool!

I watched every minute of it in awe. Amazing job, missed the conference though.
Did they ever determine if he broke the sound barrier or not?

The view when the door opened was also amazing. Can't imagine what he must have though sitting there for those 2-3 minutes before he jumped just looking at that view.

INC, during the press conference, they said he reached 833.9 mph during the free fall, which they said translates to Mach 1.24.
One of the questions they asked him was what he said when he stepped out on the platform. He said at that point he wasn't thinking about breaking records, he was thinking about coming back alive. And he said, "I know the world is watching and I wish you could see what I see. Sometimes you have to go up really high to realize how small you are."
(Hoping I got that right; I was writing it down as he said it since my boyfriend missed the conference, too.)
I'd like to know how he fit in a pressure suit with balls that big? :P
hahah, Love this!
It was totally amazing! And did you see his beautiful landing back on Earth? PERFECT!
yeah but...even Flo couldn't get him life insurance

Oldhometown- I heard they had a 20 second delay with the "live" feed so that way if something did happen they could cut off the feed?
True. NatGeo or RedBull didnt want any live shots of a dead body going splat.
