Why won’t Bob Latta debate Angela Zimmann?

It’s bad enough that the Republicans gerrymandered the hell out of Northwest Ohio if their effort to preserve power, but now Latta who has been forced on me by Columbus won’t even debate Angela Zimmann the Democrat running for office. It pisses me off to no end that Latta thinks he can represent me, but doesn’t even show the slightest bit of respect to his new district. Yes, the new area in Toledo he carved out is more Democrat than Republican, but it doesn’t mean he gets to completely ignore us.

What is he so scared of? Why won’t he debate?

On the other side, you have Joe the Plumber who won't debate with Kaptur.

i don't understand why they are allowed not to debate.

Wurzelbacher is not a real candidate. Of course, the Republicans have not really made any effort to run against Marcy in a very long time. Sam just appears to be milking what little he can out of his 15 minutes. If that requires him to "run" for Congress, then that is what he'll do. Sort of.

To my knowledge, there is no requirement of any political candidate to debate. Do I think it's a good idea not to? No, I do not.

As for Joe the Plumber, he's been MIA since he announced. As for Ms. Kaptur - she has that seat until she:

1. dies
2. retires

As for the gerrymandering, deal with it. Whomever the party in power is after each 10 year census, carves out the districts to benefit their party as much as possible. It's been going on for decades.
Does that make it right? Not saying it does. But it's part of the current political process. You've got an upcoming vote to change the process if that's your desire.

For the record, I've never been a fan of Bob Latta. He's not my rep but I don't think he's capable of debating a bowl of oatmeal.

He of course wants to pull his paycheck for as long as possible.

As for Latta, he has very little to gain and a great deal to lose by debating Zimmann. He has all the name recognition in the area and the tried and true "re-elect" on his materials. Debating Zimmann only gives her credibility. If he ignores her, he makes it seem as if she is not even worthy of his time and, by corollary, not worthy of our votes.

Iott wasn't an effort? Marcy still debated him, Marcy is willing to debate the plumber, it sucks that Latta won't debate Zimmann.

He's a complete chicken shit and not worthy to represent me. I’d rather be represented by an honorable man I disagree with than a man with no honor.

Now that I think of it, weren't there a couple of Republican sacrificial lambs that Kaptur wouldn't debate in the past?

Iott was indeed an effort. Two years ago was the first time I EVER saw Marcy out going door to door. She actually had to work for it for a change - up until that nasty little photo of Iott dressed up as a Nazi saw the light of day.

... and the Iott photo fiasco was an absolute joke! Wildwood Metropark used to host a Civl War re-enactment, maybe they still do. It was very educational. I should go and take pictures and names of any persons playing a Southerner in the re-enactment. If any of those people ever runs for public office I'll frame them as a racist and sell the pictures. That's the equivalent.

Dressing up as a Confederate soldier who thought he was fighting for his state's rights and dressing up as a Waffen SS Nazi who was fighting for racial purity are two completely different things.

From wiki - Historical reenactment is an scripted educational activity in which participants follow a prearranged plan to recreate some aspects of a historical event or period. This may be as narrow as a specific moment from a battle, such as the reenactment of Pickett's Charge at the Great Reunion of 1913, or as broad as an entire period, such as Regency reenactment or The 1920s Berlin Project.

What... Everyone's supposed to dress as the Good Guys??? Can't believe it....

"state's rights."

Is that anything like "the right to own black people and use them as farm implements?"

Iott then went onto CNN and said we couldn't judge Nazis SS soldiers. You forgot that part...

The only person I don't recall Marcy debating was thief and WSPD staple Ed Emery.

Larry Kaczala was a good opponent and a nice guy. Marcy debated him too...

Even Lincoln himself didn't free the slaves until 1863.

Vote Yes on Issue 2 then, so we can un-gerrymander the districts and get some real competition back in these races.

We have the option of fixing the gerrymandering this year: Issue 2.

Marcy Kaptur is the most senior woman in the House and 25th in seniority. When she gets a few more terms and the older farts die off or get voted out, Toledo's gonna get all sorts of goodies. Even the conservatives around here know it, and they will be shutting their pie holes if they know what's good for 'em.

Calling bs, shenanigans, or whatever the kids are calling it these days. If it wasn't the debate, it would be something else that would have elicited the exact same response. So at least have the cojones to say that Latta isn't worthy to represent you because he's not a progressive liberal democrat.

Not at all... I don't like our governor but at least he faced Strickland like a man. If Latta is too much of a wuss to debate, I don't want someone that spineless representing me.

I forgot about Iott, but he is the only legitimate opponent she has faced in a looong time.

Wrong. We have the option of allowing the State government to fuck things up even worse than they are now. Don't believe me? List three laws that the State passed in the last ten years that were actually beneficial to the residents.

Seriously AC, State government is so incompetent and corrupt that I wouldn't trust it to run a whore house in Columbus, let alone amend the State Constitution.

Gee I wonder which party makes up the majority of that state government? Because you effectively just admitted that the GOP majority controlling the state is incompetent and corrupt, you know. And no, you're not going to get away with walking that one back.

You're the moron who straight up said state government is incompetent and corrupt, while forgetting that it's run by Republicans who in your little fantasy world of rainbow-farting unicorns are pure as the freshly fallen snow while all Democrats are venial corrupt commie pinko socialists.

So you either admitted that there's no reason to vote for Republicans because they're incompetent and corrupt and you don't trust them to run a whore house let alone amend the State Constitution, or that you're clearly an ignorant, highly partisan dumbass who can't be bothered to think before he shoots his loud fat mouth off spouting conservative rhetoric.

Seriously, Liney, how about you put down the bottle, turn off the Internet and the Fox News and the Rush Limbaugh for a while, and actually think about things instead of this knee-jerk reflexive reaction that anything to the left of Rick Santorum and Sarah Palin is going to destroy the country?

How about you pull that dick out of your mouth, admit most of the politicians are worthless including your own personal jesus nobama, stop spouting your parties rehearsed lines and admit that choosing the lesser of evils is about the only thing we have left in this country.

Choosing the lesser of evils is the only thing we have left?

I'm already on record on this board, MULTIPLE times, on 3 steps we need to get away from this partisan bullshit where we get (R) or (D) and we have to vote for the guy who sucks less else the guy who sucks more gets in.

I do admit to choosing the lesser of evils. What I don't get is why you and the rest of your "I swear I'm not a Republican and I don't watch Fox News or listen to Limbaugh but I sure do spout their talking points word-for-word" crowd are fully bent over with your cheeks spread and begging the bastard children of Satan and Cthulhu to take you up the poop chute.

Wait, what?

You're upset at me calling him the lesser of 2 evils?

Dude let NDAA go through, not that he had much of a choice without the GOP attacking him no matter what stance he took on it.

Dude's DEA goon squads are down on medical marijuana.

I got quite a few reasons to not like him.
