Help! To keep a dog from poking out a screened window with his claws, I think I need a strip of plexiglas. I've parked a board in the window for now, but I think clear plastic would be better for viewing birdfeeders and yard critters. In fact, the wildlife viewing opportunities are why The Dog props himself up on the windowsill. Any suggestions? Sources? Better ideas? It would need to be about 40 inches long, maybe 5 inches tall. Thanks.

I replaced a screen door with plexiglass to keep the squirrels from ripping the screen in our back porch. Went to Janney's at Secor and Alexis and they did a great job.

Building the time machine to go back and buy the plexi glass there probably isn't worth the cost of the plexi glass.
Janney's is still there, slowsol. It is on the northeast coner of Secor and Laskey, just past Modern Floors. This is a scaled-down Janney's, but they do many of the services they used to provide as a big Ace outlet. I have purchased sections of Plexiglass in the past year for some repairs at my house.

I'm glad to hear about Janney's. They seem to be famous for having the upside-down sign. I'll go check it out.
Whats left of Janney's isn't much more than a lawnmower repair show with lots of parts. Unless they made some changes in the last year since I was there last.

They do not have lots of inventory but if you know what you want they are great. We bought son a chain saw for Christmas last year. They had the best price, threw in some extras and did not have the warranty start till spring.
I lived in Trilby when it had 2 hardware stores. Janney's, where Rite Aid is and Wing's which is where Modern Floor
is now.
Again, they provide many of the services that they used to provide when it was a hardware store: screen repair, window repair, some equipment rentals, small engine repair, knife sharpening, and much more than I can remember. Yes, they do not have much in the way of a wide selestion in home improvement stuff, but if you poke around they have quite a variety of useful niche services.
Then again, some folks just like the big box, mega-retailer shopping experience better. Personally, if I can run down the street to Janney's to get my lawnmower blade sharpened for a few bucks, this is a better way to go than to walk through acres of retail to buy a new one.
Oh, and as for the small engine repair they will pick up from and deliver back to your house a repaired mower or snowblower. That is some serious specialized customer service, and I hope to never again try to cram the snowblower in a minivan again.

Thanks historymike. Reliable, quality small engine repair is a very valuble and hard to find service. I've been considering junking a few items instead of repairing them. One 2-cycle tests at only 25lbs compression when it should have 90-110. The other has no spark. The compression problem is probably a piston/cylinder problem and maybe more bucks than its worth to fix. The other is most likely a carburetor problem and will just need a carb kit. Do they charge for an estimate?
They do charge for estimates, holland, but they will factor out the estimate from the final labor bill, if I remember correctly.
