I didn't even know he had left. I recently saw an ad looking for his replacement. A great leader for the agency. Sad to see him go. He instituted a lot of changes there for the better - getting the animals out of their cages, $5 Fridays, etc. Homeless, abandoned animals were always his top priority. I had the pleasure of talking to him on a few occassions. Very nice guy. A real pro. Sounds like there was some friction between him and the organization's veterinarian. Wherever he ends up going, he'll be a valuable addition to the staff.

I remember seeing him on TV with some hapless dog or cat from the shelter that was looking for a home. He seemed to be doing a good job.

Sounds like there was some "politics" going on between him and Vet Johnson. That is never a good thing for a non profit organization. The article suggests Johnson may be interested in filling the position, but I hope it's someone from the "civil" or layman's pool. I would like to see the Humane Society hire someone from the outside to avoid bad feelings. Homeless animals deserve better than dueling egos.
