I am not going to rail on the Mayor for going to China. It is clear that this City needs to encourage investment from as many sources as possible. What I do not understand is why we paid to send Jen Sorgenfrei as well. Does Ms. Sorgenfrei speak Chinese or have connections in Chinese business or governmental circles? I find it strange that we need to spend money sending the Mayor's spokesperson to China when we have an ongoing budget deficit. It is a relatively small line item, but this and many former Mayors spend an awful lot of money here and there with very little accountability.
Am I missing the obvious need for her to be there? If so, I will gladly retract the complaint.
