Firehouse Subs: YUM!

So a week or so ago, Mr. Gamegrrl came home from errand-running with a sack o' subs from Firehouse Subs.

We both had the Italian, "fully involved", and it was amazing! It had a unique taste that was very compelling. It was so good that we picked up subs a second time in the same week. That time, I had the Italian once again, and Mr. Gamegrrl had the King's Hawaiian Pork & Slaw Sandwich. He's more than a little knowledgeable and picky about his BBQ, so when he proclaimed it to be his current fave pulled pork sandwich, I knew we had a winner.

They're located at 5208 Monroe Street, in the same strip as Outback Steakhouse.

Oh... we have one of those now? I had yummy lunch at one in Florida years ago.

Does this location have a large variety of hot sauces on hand like other locations! I hope so, I love Firehouse subs.

AWESOME!!! Love eating there when I'm in Tennessee for work. Glad to hear they opened on here in Toledo.

Damn, some of the pictures are making me hungry. How are their prices? The problem with places like Subway for me, is I like meat and cheese, I don't get any veggies or the other toppings so I feel kinda cheated.

Thanks for the tip! We went there last night and we'll definitely be going back. Gamegrrl is right about the pork sandwich: it was really good. There is a wall of hot sauces available, labelled by degree of hotness so you won't compromise your tongue integrity accidentally.

We ordered a meatball sub and the Hawaiian pork; we'll get corned beef (or beef & cheddar) next time and I want to try the chili.

I haven't noticed this elsewhere in town since I'm not a big soda drinker, but they have a high-tech Coke machine which dispenses your choice of over 200 flavors. We made ourselves a Raspberry Coke which was a nice treat.

Prices are higher than Subway but the food quality is miles better. Subs are about $6-8 alone or $8-10 as a combo (drink and chips).

A nice touch is the Toledo-theme decor with photos of fire stations and a nice mural of 5th 3rd Field. Plus there are hatchets on the wall.

They are building one just about a mile from house down here and wondered who they were. Thanks for the review, will have to check them out once they open.

So is it IN the mall, outside it or what? We ate Firehouse in Wilmington NC a couple years ago, it was packed like 5 Guys and it was great, nice to have that choice again!
