So I've been thinking about contacting a few local venues and maybe even the Art Museum and looking into doing an art show/presentation of the urban decay photography I have done around Nw Ohio.
More so, I was thinking it might be nice to connect with a local historical society and use this as a semi fund raiser for a few restoration projects for the city.
Do you guys have any thoughts? More so, suggestions or contacts you might want to share?
You can see my urban decay photography at http://toledowastewalker.wordpress.com
I think it's a great idea. I can talk to the owner of Bozarts if you would like
Steve155 - I would love that! I really dont know the local art scene, but I do know how to put on a presentation!
we're living amongst the rot and decay. not very exciting concept for an art show. you're better off finding a gallery in a non rustbelt city.
Your photos are beautiful. I think you should definitely pursue putting them into a collection and dislplaying them somewhere.
OhioKimono, I'd be interested in the feedback you'd get from galleries about it, more to the point from people who could be involved but refuse, even more to the point from politicians and their representatives and other so-called leading lights that frown upon this sort of thing. Are you going around marketing this sort of thing in that term "urban decay" for instance? City government isn't about urban decay; it's about urban development (hey, just ask 'em).
You might also want to contact the Arts Commission about getting your work into Artomatic 419 - it's an AMAZING event in downtown, takes over most of the city, has killer attendance.

great idea. this year's artomatic is going to be HUGE
our building is around 60,000 sq ft, and we expect around 500 artists involved.
last event had at least 10,000 people come.
Thanks for all the help and feedback!
I actually worry about political suppression of this project.
