Anyone see 'Lincoln?'

I just saw Lincoln last night, finally, and was so moved. It is a tremendous film and I highly recommend it.

One of the first characters introduced was Rep. James Ashley, who was the floor manager for the 13th Amendment, and who brought it to a vote in the House. He was Toledo's representative, and a great-grandfather to Thomas Ludlow "Lud" Ashley, who was a Toledo Congressman until 1980.

James Ashley is a main character in the film, and it made me feel very proud that he represented Toledo. He is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, and my husband and kids and I want to visit his grave today to pay our respects.

I originally titled this Anyone see "Lincoln?" But it deleted the Lincoln part. :-(

I love the Civil War and Lincoln is my favorite president, but even I found the movie somewhat slow. I thought some of the accents and speech patterns from the period were difficult to get through, also. But, DDL was incredibly good as Lincoln, and should roll to the Oscar.

I'll watch it a second time at home and probably pick up a little more.

I enjoyed it. My adult children wnet with us and thought it was too slow, but I felt the pace was perfect for the era.
