Toledo Talk

Reynolds and Dussel

I noticed that the former car dealership at Reynolds and Dussel is being torn down. Any idea if something else is going in there? It's a large piece of land.

They are moving pretty fast but I think it is supposed to take two years to build. It should be interesting to see how meier store and krogers battle it out.

I wonder how the businesses around the Dussel Reynolds/Conant corridor will be effected?

That could be I actually did a double take when it said early this fall.

I also never knew there was a Kroger at Glendale/Reynolds LOL

I want to know what is going to happen to the former Hummer dealership that shared the property. As of Tue it was still standing. That building could be really cool with a little imagination and the right tenant.

Ooooh, so you're thinking an Edsel dealership?

HA-I was thinking something other than an automotive concern. Lots of glass, tall ceilings; it's far more interesting than the strip mall design ethos that the rest of the area subscribes to.
I don't think they actually worked on vehicles in there-it was just a showroom.

Is that in the fence line? Does Kroger"s own it? It is a very cool building but must be a pain to keep heated.

Lots of glass, tall ceilings? Designed for retail?
All you need is 300 gallons of black paint for all that glass and it could be COSI 2.

Good grief! Please don't give the powers that be any ideas. They'd no doubt want a separate levy (year after year after year.....) for the damn thing!

Point taken, but why are you assuming I meant a publicly funded type of entity or retail?

Also: Imagination-look it up.

Over and out of this negativity-fest.

Fred, what kind of ideas come to mind when you think about the possibilities for the place?

It's not far from a Planet Fitness or Urban Active or one of those gyms, right? Could be a cool opportunity for one of them to take it over and make it a rock climbing facitlity.

Exactly.
Activity or some other space-intensive concern on the tall side, more conventional use on the small side.

I just like it because it stands out, and as Hummer is dead, they aren't making anymore of them.

Most of all I like positive people with ideas.

It is the property of Krogers. I just drove by.

They are demo-ing the Hummer building this morning. So much for keeping a cool building.
