I wonder if anyone else has made this association:

I am a West-Side Toledo'an my entire life. When I was growing up in Toledo in the 70's and 80's if you had to draw an image of the East-Side it would have been "tattoo's, cigarettes, piercings, a few more carry-outs, a little attitude and edge..." when all of these things were a little taboo. I won't mention that tar smell.

Now it's 2013 and what doe we have here within a 1/2 mile of my house in West Toledo? Two piercing businesses and two tattoo places. Also, there are about 3 check cashing type dollar stores in the vicinity and even the stray dog's in my neighborhood have their tongues pierced.

Face it... The East-siders - they were innovators. This Knife Pong thing... West-siders will be playing it a generation from now. Mark my words.

Danne's sensing the future. Yes, the north side of West Toledo is in definite decline, well evidenced by the decline in demographics, businesses and housing. And this should easily accepted since it's not like there are jobs available for people there. The 'rot' will move westward, inexorably.

This knife pong activity really is somewhat new. This thread is the fourth result in a Google search. Remove the double quotes, and it's number two. City leaders need to determine a way to capitalize on the momentum. We could host the Knife Pong National Championship.

Where would we host the championship at?

There's a plot of empty land down east of the river. Even has lights so we can play into the night. I'll set up the beer tent. Blatz anyone? Maybe PBR.

To promote good sportsmanship among Knife Pong aficionados and facilitate the growth of the nascent Knife Pong League (KPL) I have assembled a tentative list of rules for the sport:

1st rule: You do not talk about Knife Pong.
2nd rule: You DO NOT talk about Knife Pong.
3rd rule: If someone dies or goes limp after getting stabbed, Knife Pong is over.
4th rule: Only two knives to a fight.
5th rule: Only one opponent at a time may be stabbed; you may not, for example, stab bystanders, your mom, or the neighbor's ferret while Knife Pong is in play.
6th rule: No machetes, no scythes.
7th rule: Knife Pong will go on as long as it has to.
8th rule: If this is your first night at Knife Pong, you HAVE to stab someone.
9th rule: Beer is tangential to the sport, and must be consumed before or after Knife Pong, or while your gashed and bleeding opponent is trying to stuff his spleen and intestines back in his abdomen.

I like the 8th rule. Sadly, we have to stop talking about it. :^(
