Sidecut is so pretty in the snow! There was an official designated sledding area, with even fire pits going to stay warm by! Great place to take the kids!

Great pictures as always. I love Sidecut but don't get out there often enough.
We took the Sidecut Explorer tram one evening last summer. The naturalist onboard was great, and taking a peaceful ride through the park as the evening cooled was lovely.
The sledding hill and fire pits were paid for by the Al Wagener family and the proceeds from an annual memorial golf outing for Mr. Wagener who lived and died on the banks of the river.
Originally the funds from the outings went to Audubon Island; which lies on the river dividing Maumee were Wagener grow up and Perrysburg where he lived until his death.
When the Metropark staff realized it wouldn’t take a lot of money to turn the island back to its natural state, they came up with the plans for the sledding hill, fire pits and skating area.
There are even talks about purchasing a snow maker for the hill.
