After having IGS Energy for a natual gas supplier through Columbia Gas we were notified that they no longer will be supplier to us. What gives? We've paid our gas bill on time every month. Is Columbia going to give us a choice of new suppliers?

On a related note, I trust that those aggressive door-to-door IGS marketers with the clipboards and annoying sales pitches will be a thing of the past.

I got one of those, too. We belong to NOAC, the aggregate coalition that negotiates the lowest rate for its customers. Apparently, the contract expired, since it was only for one year. Since the spring and summer is near, they are not going to renegotiate a contract until September, so they are advising to let service revert to Columbia until they go out to bid in September. Otherwise, if you sign up with another company, you may be locked in a a higher rate. http://www.toledoblade.com/Energy/2013/03/12/Local-gas-coalition-s-contract-up.html

Mike, I just sent away an IGS gal with her clipboard. They may be starting a new offensive!
Just had IGS reps come to my door today. Can anyone give a quick run down of the pro andcons of signing with them.
I also have recently send IGS away. I do not like how they act like you (the customer) must sign up with them. Their little tricky words and phrases are designed to sway you. It should be illegal. With so many people going with cell phones, expect more telemarketers turning into canvassers.
I believe what they do is sign up customers under a "new customer" deal for a certain amount of time. Then, like most things, once the discount period is over, your rates jump up. It works mostly because most people don't monitor the time agreed to.

Nor do they bother to learn what they are currently paying and do an "apples to apples" comparison - which PUCO actually makes quite simple.
One of their reps called the other afternoon and gave quite the deceptive schpeal. It took a tremendous amount of prodding to get her to admit she was with IGS. She tried to make us think she was calling on behalf of First Energy. Real slimebags these people.
I have used their service for several years and have no problems with them. The rates have always been cheaper than Columbia Gas.
