Often we hear of the racial divide in America. Some have even argued that there has been a reversal of the progress in racial equality seen in the 1970's and 1980's.
With that in mind, has anyone driven down River Road in Perrysburg or Bancroft Street through Ottawa Hills. I am suprised at the number of Obama signs posted the yards.
If America is so racist, how come economically elite, historically established, primarily white neighborhoods are sporting all those Obama signs?
As a further observation, Obama won the state of Iowa in the primary. Iowa is not exactly a stronghold of African Americans. It was the white vote that gave Obama the state of Iowa.
Is white America actually more racially accepting than black America? Does white America just see a young, vibrant candidate as opposed to a black man running for president? Or is this support of Obama some kind of "white guilt" or "look how progressive I am" syndrome?
Is there a divide in the black community? Does the black middle and upper class get ignored by the media, so that we get a misrepresentation of the black community's opinion of American society?
Can we even talk about the races in the aggregate anymore?
When was the last time you heard of a white man being arrested, tased or shot by a black Police Officer and the community screamed racism and threatened to call in Thom Robb of the KKK?
I hate the oh poor me syndrome. If you act stupid and dont take advantage of opporunities you have then you deserve what you get. I cant believe how ignorant some people can be when a member of the african race makes good on any chance and makes something of themselves. Take Condilisa Rice or Colin Powel, They should feel pride that someone got ahead yet the most ignorant of them out of jealousy I guess, seem to think they sold out. As long as you think you are being oppressed and dont try to get ahead you probably are.
Sigh...we will NEVER be able to have a calm, rational conversation about reverse racism due to the massive amounts of white guilt that is constantly shoved down our throats by the Liberal media on an hourly basis. Connie and Collin are examples of what the Black race can achieve if they work at it. I do not see them as black; I see them as highly educated, successful professionals who I am proud of for their achievements.
This bullshit that an honest question such as this is about jealousy or discrimination is just another diversion to head back down the path of "poor minorities, we should help them". That ideology can try to be sold all day long but a lot of Americans are not buying that mindset. Instead of whining and complaining, maybe attending college and climbing up the ranks of success would be a better use on one's time if they feel slighted.
