You've Got Me Thinking, Char; Didn't Want to "HiJack" Your Post

Sorry about the above title. Should have referenced JShriver.

I have read some of Stephen King's work, and seen some of his movies. I especially like the mini-series, "The Stand". But this post brings something else to mind. I have always wondered about how different actors would have affected some of our best-loved films. Figuring out who to cast in what role, and how a different actor might affect a film has always been one of my occasional day-dreams.

I always liked Jimmy Stewart when I was a kid. I have often wondered how he would have done some of the other comic roles I've seen with other actors. He might not be believable as a "Tarzan" but I have to wonder how he would have "interpreted" the role as "Tarzan" matures.

I think the story/script is the most important part of a movie. No matter who the director, actresses, cinematographer, etc. is a bad script is a bad script.

But sometimes, it's so bad it's actually quite good comedically. Roadhouse, Rudy, Titanic, Scarface, etc. come to mind. Gangster movies, love stories, underdog movies are usually so bad they're fun for me to provide irreverent DVD commentary much to the chagrin of people unlucky enough to be in the same room.

I always try to think how Carrot Top would act in more serious roles. Like a Clint Eastwood flick. Like the one where he is overshadowed in ability and charm by a monkey.
