Lots of tree damage along S Portage River Rd and the road closed westbound at CR 106, I assume from more damage as the river didn't really look bad enough to flood. Locals said some areas got 6 inches of rain and power was out for an hour or 2 but they didn't really know what had happened. I can't find any mention of anything online, was it more than just a bad thinderstorm? thx.

My rain gauge in West Toledo recorded 0.90 inches of rain from last night's storm, and most of that fell in a 15 to 20 minute period around 1:30 a.m. It was a deluge. Our tall coreopsis flowers got flattened.
But from looking at the radar during the storm, it appeared that eastern Lucas County and Ottawa County probably received a lot more rain than we did.
According to storm reports :
- 3/4 inch diameter hail reported in East Toledo
- 3/4 inch hail reported in Oak Harbor
- 3/4 inch hail reported in Freemont
- 3/4 inch hail reported in Clyde
- 73 mph wind gust reported in Tiffin
The NWS radar map of estimated rainfall shows most of the rain fell in the eastern half of Lucas County with amounts ranging between 3 and 5 inches.
Didn't even know it rained.
The thunder ahead of it woke me up around 1:10, I am guessing. The bad news is that I am still up. :(
My gauge was just under 1.5" last night. Lots of lightning, and my dogs were freaked, but not much more than a few dead branches falling down near the mall.
Lightning was constant to the east and northeast between 1-2a but little thunder. We definately got a lot of rain after we went to sleep about 2:30, our 575 gallon rainbarrel was about 1/3 full from usage these past few weeks, it's topped up now. What's up with the hail? I thought that only happened this time of year during a tornado! Happened yesterday in NE, too. http://www.b.weather.com/news/weather-severe/hail-leaves-wintry-scene-august-20130831
