While I agree with the President that using chemical weapons should call for a military response from the US it is his previous actions that make me deny my support now.
The President has ended the two-war strategy that has served this country non-stop since Korea. We are reducing our forces to pre-1962 levels. That means our military readiness is a precious commodity and we should not give it up on a whim.
Since he has painted us into a one-war strategy we must now ask ourselves "Is this the war we would dedicate our valuable military resources to?" knowing that if we do we cannot fight another war, even if attacked, without huge delays and/or military buildup.
We should instead be pressuring our allies Turkey, Iraq, and Jordan to intervene militarily with us supporting with logistics and intelligence and relocating refugees. This would be easy with maritime forces and seabasing in Cyprus and Israel. After all, if Syria falls or Assad succeeds they will be the ones to live with the consequences upon their doorstep.
We had two wars going on for years, and there were calls to get into a THIRD one (bomb bomb bomb Iran, anyone?).
Then Obama won the election and suddenly the GOP puppetmasters started pulling the "ZOMG DEBT! TAXES!" strings. And we thus had the TEA Party come in and got the sequester etc.
DON'T give me this "Obama painted us into a one-war strategy" UTTER HORSESHIT at the same fucking time Team TeaOP is herpaderping about government spending. You can't fucking logically back the Teatards who forced cuts and then say it's Obama's fault that cuts are made to Defense (one of THE BIGGEST spending areas). You want spending cuts, then LIVE WITH THE FUCKING CONSEQUENCES, ASSHOLE. You want spending cuts but you don't want Defense touched? Then don't bitch about the massive cuts that come out of everything else to subsidize your friends in the Military-Industrial Complex, because we have to keep the tank plant in Lima open refurbing tanks the Joint Chiefs don't want. Which, by the way, is just about as much socialism as Obamacare is, since it's a Congressional mandate to spend money at a private company for goods and services. And in case you disagree, such things are specifically written into the budget by Congressmen.
And before you get all pissy about my attitude, go re-read your link:
The review was conducted in light of_ potential limits on federal spending_ and the need to reduce the Pentagon's budget.
Currently, the Pentagon is committed to nearly half a trillion dollars in cuts over the next decade and could be on the hook for another half trillion dollars if Congress does not find a way around automatic cuts that enacted after the failure to reach an agreement on the federal budget.
Gee I wonder which fucktards in Congress pushed for cuts? I wonder which fucktards triggered the sequester? I wonder which fucktards are too busy HOLDING OVER FORTY VOTES TO REPEAL OBAMACARE instead of actually negotiation in good faith to make INTELLIGENT budget cuts and letting the military sort out its own budget instead of demanding they spend money on stuff it neither needs nor wants?
If you're a two-car household and the bills are piling up, you don't let the kids tell you to take an income cut, nor do you let them mandate that cable TV and eating McDonalds on Fridays remain in the budget else they will set the house on fire. If you're such a pussy that you do, then you don't blame the spouse when you're forced to sell one of the cars.
Go rethink what you said for a while.
