Looking for suggestions for great spots to see during the "changing of the leaves" in the metro Toledo area and also in NW Ohio in general (with an hour or so drive of Toledo).....looking for those out of the way places, rural locales, cool vistas, etc that offer something unique and worth a trip to see. Any suggestions? I know northern Michigan is great, and the hills of souther Ohio are beautiful....just looking to uncover some hidden gems a little closer to home.

The drive down to Grandrapids Oh can be lovely in the fall, no matter the route you take.
Within an hour's drive of Toledo - try the Irish Hills area over the line in Michigan.
Like upso said...Grand Rapids is hard to beat this time of year.
I also like:
US 6 between Sandusky and Lorain, and OH-105 between Bowling Green and Port Clinton.
The Marblehead and Catawba peninsulas.
Indian Lake and Grand Lake St. Marys.
If you take Sylvania-Metamora road out of Sylvania, it bounces around the state line and eventually goes all the way to Indiana. Once you get past Morenci and Waldron, there's some nice scenery up there. US 20 is the same way.
And OH-7/US 52 along the Ohio River is awesome--a little further away than what you're looking for, though, I guess; the same goes for US 250 past Norwalk.
Look at www.ohiobyways.com; this is where we get a lot of our ideas.
All over NW Ohio is great... But if you don't mind the drive, check out northeast Ohio east of Cleveland... Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties are great.... Just be sure to get in and out quick.... First 5 feet of snow will hit on Oct 1... LOL..
Beautiful Mike.... Are those your neighbors??
Nope - mine. All mine. I am digging the blooming of the mums and hardy asters.
I have to second the ride to Grand Rapids down the 'old 24', it's so calm and peaceful now, but go all the way to Defiance, at least and beyond. One of the top 10 Biker Rides every year. The section by Independence Dam is excellent for color. We are planning to go to Brown County Indiana by back roads last weekend this month, doubt we'll see much color yet, but I really truly love that ride.
So jealous of the colors you guys get up there. Enjoy them! Our leaves start changing early to mid November but usually just end up getting blown off from a late fall storm or early ice storm.
Wanna trade our colors for your temps? Make me an offer......
I will second the Irish Hills and Sylvania-Metamora/Territorial Road drives. Great relaxing drives any time of the year and exceptionally fun this time of year.
