Man Accused Of Providing Illegal Taxi Service (Nanny State Alert)

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- A man who said he thought he was just helping a woman in need is accused of running an illegal taxi service.

Miami-Dade County's Consumer Services Department has slapped Rosco O'Neil with $2,000 worth of fines, but O'Neil claims he is falsely accused.

"I ain't running nothing illegal," O’Neil said.

The 78-year-old said he was walking into a Winn-Dixie to get some groceries when he was approached by a woman who said she needed a ride.

I for one feel safer.

This is racial profiling. They targeted him because he was Irish. :)

A jury with the power to throw this out would. Licensing isn't even correlated with quality anyway.

GREAT that the rate of violent crimes, burglaries, illicit drug transactions and the like in Miami Gardens is so low that they can re-direct their efforts to preventing these types of crime!

I'm sure the Officers involved have a 'warm, fuzzy' when they go home, knowing they've got one more dangerous criminal off the streets!

I believe Tacitus once said "The more corrupt the state, the more numerous the laws."

I thought there might be more to the story, but the government agency running this operation pretty much tells the same story. Morons. This crap is what makes me hate government agencies.
