Hey all, I just wanted to make you aware of some cool entertainment options in downtown Toledo for your midweek.
I am producing a show called "Two Buck Yuks" every Wednesday at the Blarney Event Center, right behind the main bar at 601 Monroe St. The show is at 8pm, with doors at 7. The full dinner menu is available at the show, along with table service and full bar. We offer a national touring headline comic along with short sets from 9 other up-and-coming comics from Toledo and all over the Midwest. The shows run 90 minutes and, in case you missed it from the title, the cover is just $2!
Also, on Thursday, Our Brother's Place on Jackson has a comedy show called "The LOL Lounge." It's been running for over a year now and has brought in some great talent from around the region, including some comics who've been on Showtime and BET. This show has no cover and starts around 9pm, hosted by local comedian Kool Keith.
Both of these shows are an inexpensive night out, and I think you'll be surprised at the level of talent represented at them. I hope you'll stop out and have some laughs and some drinks with us soon.
Or you could just attend any city council meeting for a few laughs or a good cry.
Just checked out the website - looks interesting - but I don't see any mention of who will be performing.
Hopefully you guys can add a calendar of events to the page.
I think I'll be down to give that menu the once over in person!
Thanks, Shamrock! I keep a roster of the upcoming shows more-or-less updated on my own site, www.keithbergman.com - and I hope to have a dedicated Two Buck Yuks site up shortly.
Any chance that you may bring in Heywood Banks?
I saw Heywoood Banks in Monroe a few years back! Was pretty entertaining.
I will be attending this show tonight because a friend of mine is doing stand up there. I'm excited.
Hope it's a nice turn out!
I am thinking Heywood might be out of our reach money-wise, for now. But if these Wednesday shows continue to go well, I'd like to start holding shows there on weekends as well. Those would be a little more than $2 per ticket to put on, but I imagine I could still get Heywood and guys at that level for a reasonable ticket price. I saw him earlier this year in Dayton, and he puts on a great show.
Right now, for headliners, we kind of have the "luck of the draw" - many touring comics work Thursday-Saturday at the bigger clubs, but may be willing to stop in to our show en route to somewhere else. It was one of the reasons we picked Wednesdays for the shows.
If you come out tonight, say hello - I'll be the guy with the beard at the door.
My Wednesdays are tied up until HS soccer season is over, but will look forward to stopping in next month!
I was there last night and had a great time. Seemed like a decent turnout.
Can't wait to go again!
