After a rather nice exterior improvements to the building, Bedland is once again having a "Going Out Of Business " sale. It seems like they have these sales once a year or so, what's up? Have they been sold to new owner sin the past or is this just a gimmick? Seems like their should be some sort of regulation

My other half and I live just up the road from there and have made the same comment. Very odd to do so much remodeling if you intend to 'go out of business' and shutter the place. Also, so many times they, or someone with a very similar name, seem to be closing shop and having a fire sale. Just makes for a lot of bad perceptions and ugly orange/red signs.
Wasn't there a furniture store in uptown Maumee that was "going out of business" for at least a decade?
Bedland has become a running joke in our house. Now more than ever, since they run a fleet of SUVs around the major intersections of West Toledo with Bedland signs posted on top.
My best guess is they, the owners, know the letter of the law and they "go out of business" every 26 months or so ... whatever length of time is not against the law.
They have gone "out of business" at least 3 times in the past 7 years. Maybe an insider or relative buys it, goes "out of business" then sells it back to the first owner, who is then free to advertise a distress sale again. And again.
When I'm feeling cranky I sometimes think about painting "due to bedbug Infestation" on some of their signs :-) Now THAT'S a reason for a bed store to go out of business!
How about that oriental rug place by the old Major Magic's? That place has been going out of business for 10 years.
