Space heater for pets

We have been caring for a stray cat in our detached garage for the last five years, and we put an electric blanket on a chair in the winters to keep him warm. We've made him a box, too, but he won't use it. Worried about him tonight and am thinking about putting a new Pelonis disc ceramic space heater out there for him. The heater turns off when picked up or tipped over, and is not hot to the touch. We've never done this before and worried about having a space heater unsupervised in the garage. Anyone ever do this to keep an outdoor pet warm? A few people I know do this regularly. Still, makes me a bit nervous. Thanks.

Just make sure you plug it directly into an outlet or use a heavy duty extension cord and you should be fine.

I think he will crawl into that box tonight.

We've done it any number of times. Just be sure the space heater isn't located close to flammables and sits on a solid, level surface.

Good on you and yours Bikerdude.
