Toledo Talk

Arnies

Arnies has been around a very long time, and in the same location ... Just wondering if and where they would relocate?? Hopefully West Toledo, and should get a tax break/deal from City of Toledo for this inconvience. Not sure if the building is leased or owned.. many many good memories from this local watering facility. Remember the old man taking me to lunch here and also the EPIC backroom loaded with Big Screen T.V's. Great food, The chili was amazing . In the 90's spent a lot of time here watching sporting events..

Their lease expired, owners informed them this was coming. As far as relocating, perhaps the land in front of the new hotels might be an option, if the operators are so inclined

why the hell should they get a tax break from the city for their lease expiring?

I'll miss all the drug deals going down in the room with the big video screens. Seriously, I've only been to that place three times, and on the third-early on a weeknight, sometime in the early 2000's?- I was stunned by all the transactions.

According to Tom Waniewski, Arnie's is going to move across Secor to where the new hotels are being built. The story on 13ABC website also indicated that El Nuevo Vallarta was going to have to pay $10,000 per month in rent, so they will be moving to someplace on Douglas.

Lets say good bye to Arnie's not knowing if their going to relocate and reopen or not.I think they should consider TGI Fridays as a possible anchor restaurant for a little diversity in its place.

That move should just about finish them off.

Tax break for Arnie's? Gack.

By this logic every mom-and-pop business that ever had to relocate should get a tax break, and the last time I checked Santa Toledo's bank account was tapped out.

The food is edible as far as bars go, but not that memorable. For anyone who cannot get enough of Arnie's unique chicken wings (deadpan alert here) there is always the Perrysburg location.

There is something there right now, isn't there?

Its closed and out of business.

I heard at the new complex on secor. If they move there they will be out of business just like the arnies in perrysburg. No bar has ever survived there. It's a west toledo establishment and needs to stay there or go over near bar 145 and bier stube

And I agree with that 100% Xbuckeyex.

Yeah-that location may be even MORE cursed that the former acura dealership/ Bavarian Brewing Copy/ Strip Club/ sidelines/ Mezzmerize/ Ambrosia/ Laser Hair removal place at Dussel and Holland-Perrysburg.

Nicely done ahmahler. (Was there an Arrowhead Brewery after Bavarian?)

I believe Arrowhead Brewery (or similar name) was the first, cursed business at that location after Acura moved out. A number of prominent, local business types lost $$ into the seven figures each in that failed venture.

Arrowhead Brewery must have been after Bavarian Brewing because I remember the buildout to convert it to the original brewery (BBC). I worked there, very briefly. There is a gap in my memory since I lived on the West Coast from 1997-2004, so, anything could have been there during that time that I failed to mention, and I'd never heard of arrowhead, so that must line up.

I suspect the list of local (And plenty from Detroit from Mezzmerize) business people that lost significant money from that location is quite long and diverse.
