Toledo Talk

Best taco deals?

Looking for the best taco deals in the Toledo area. I know Doc Watson's has taco Tuesday and Cinco De Mayo on Airport has $1 tacos on Mondays. Just wondering if there are any other places that have quality tacos on the cheap.

Cock 'n Bull has a Taco Tuesday deal. I believe $1 beef, $1.50 chicken, but don't quote me on that.

Can anyone comment on the quality of the tacos? Obviously for $1 I'm not expecting gourmet, but I've definitely had some good cheap tacos and some bad ones before.

I like the sidelines ones. They don't use "canned" taco meat. At least I don't think so. :)

Quality $1 Tacos: There's only one place. Taco El Rey in Rose Buds' parking lot on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays only. If you go, please report back. I live for these tacos.

I am pretty well convinced. I'll try them out next time I have a free lunch.

Side note- my work takes me to Joliet, IL on a relatively regular basis, and there's a large Mexican migrant population in the downtown area. They have the best Mexican grocery I've ever been to (like the size of meijer) and the best mexican food I've ever had. Had lunch at a truck on my last trip - 3 tacos (al pastor, goat, and lingua) and a soda for $3.00. Unreal.

There's also a restaurant in an area of Joliet where most of the staff at our plant won't set foot in. I went with some of the migrant guys when I was there last year, and it was one of the best food experiences I've ever had. Fresh ceviche on the tables instead of salsa with fresh tostadas. Sushi quality fish in amazing mexican preparations. A tequila and beer selection to rival anything in the world. I still try to make it out there almost every other trip.

Places like that really point out that high-end mexican food really does exist, and it's amaaaaaaazing.

Crap. Now I have to plan a trip to Joliet..........................

Sounds incredible to me...........

Imagine that, real food not drowning in molten faux cheese.

Sambal aioli, rice, cheese, lettuce, red pepper relish. Pick a dressing
