For years, the LCRP used Stainbrook and his minions when they wanted/needed him, but then ignored him the rest of the time and gave him no credit for his ability to rally a group of people. They were punishing him for political moves that were 'against' the 'party'.

Now, he is using his powers to rally minions that put him in power.

It will be interesting to see who gets recommended for the BoE positions.

Interesting move on the ward chairs; they must have changed the bylaws at one of their 'meetings'.

And who won Chair of the Central Committee (Meghan Gallagher's position)?

Blade photo. Who is the republican meeting attendee, and who is the security person? The gun is throwing me off. I like the pumpkin name tags.

Frigging hilarious. The Lucas County Clown Party should broadcast their meetings over pay-per-view to raise money.

City Councilman Rob Ludeman was one of those who didn’t stay for the final vote for chairman.

“I didn’t feel as a public official I should be a part of it. The anarchy that was taking place there it really was a ridiculous scene, and I didn’‍t want to be a part of it,” he said.

Wait a minute, Rob. Don't bring down anarchy, just because your Lucas County Clown Party is dysfunctional. The LCRP is giving anarchy a black eye. The local, official, unofficial anarchist group will hold a press conference today to ensure the public that real anarchists have nothing to do with the LCRP.

More from the Blade story:

Stainbrook supporter Jennifer Glendening said she was disgusted by the behavior of the Delany faction.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Ms. Glendening, 40, of South Toledo, who has been through two previous central committee reorganizations. “It’s childish. If this is how Delaney runs it, then I’m glad he got booted out of this.”

I don't know if Lucas County still has the Democrat A and Democrat B teams, but it's possible that two republican teams could exist: Team Stainbrook and Team Delany. They need soccer jerseys.

June 2008 - Toledo Talk - Stainbrook takes control of Lucas County Republican Party

Crude sketchitorial. "Fat Chicks have Fun" and "Banned" were songs played by punk band The Stain. A co-worker played in the band, so I attended many Thursday night Stain shows at Frankie's.

My June 2008 comment:

I have not been paying attention to the Stainbrook saga since June 15. Holy moly, it's almost as entertaining as a Stain show back in the 1990's. That's the thing about punkers. You may not like what they do, but at least it ain't boring.

Here's the corrected Blade link to their photo gallery, regarding the LCRP's June 11, 2014 meeting:

"... she was injured by security while being thrown out of the Lucas County Republican Party Central Committee meeting."

Lucas County Thug Party's war on women.

"John McAvoy is thrown out of the Lucas County Republican Party Central Committee meeting."

"Dave White is thrown out."

Lucas County republicans hold a meeting, and a punk concert erupts.

Jun 11, 2014 - 13ABC - Chaos erupts at Lucas Co. Republican meeting - with video of the "discussions"

Screaming matches between members of the public and registered Republicans took center stage at Wednesday night's Lucas County Republican Party Central Committee meeting. Armed security and off-duty officers escorted dozens out who refused to be silenced.

http://swampbubbles.com/20140612/stainbrook-s-gop-central-committee-security-professionalism-does-jon-condone-behavior

YouTube video titled:

Establishment GOP Chairman's Nazis Assault Heart Patient

The video shows a security person "escorting" an attendee out of the building.

Those "security" people remind me of a Korn show that I saw at the Main Event in 1995 where The Stain opened.

At the Korn show, Stainbrook was one of several Staff or Security people who were hunched down up on stage, lining the front of the stage, throwing people back into the crowd.

This is great. Toledo-area politics is far more entertaining than national politics.

question - how is the county republican party funded? i can not imagine any serious money being donated to fund either stain or delaney... they are both such fringe elements.

why dont the serious policy oriented republicans from the western burbs and townships at some point come in and with not too big an effort take over the party... if for no other reason than to stop the carnival sideshow from embarrassing them all. get 40k a year and get some UT young republicans to run a storefront in downtown sylvania to keep tabs on precincts, etc.

how is the county republican party funded?

Its funded by supporters; under Stainbrook that has meant for the most part living off of the Lincoln Day Dinner proceeds, with a handful of other contributors, including some who stopped supporting the party under Noe/Reichert/Haynam. Very little actually goes towards candidates, most of it goes towards phone bills, legal bills, filing fees, etc. There was one large expense to the ORP for mailers - I assume that was for slate cards.

Some 'serious policy oriented republicans from the suburbs' did try to take over the party - the ORP head refused to follow the law and allowed the sideshow to continue. Some continue to fight, others have given up.

Agreed, Anniescski: I never had much respect for Husted in the past (full disclosure: when I was a journalist he stonewalled me a few times on reaction quotes on relatively minor stories where I just needed an easy "yeah, [Easy to Denounce Issue X] does indeed suck" kind of stuff) but he has stepped up twice in the past month in putting the smackdown on the Stain's nonsense.

You have to know that things must be bad when even party affiliation cannot save Stainbrook. That, plus the secretary of state position generally is one of those "don't rock the boat and keep your name out there for future elections" sorts of jobs, so for Husted to stick his neck out, there must be some real horses**t going on.

The letter from Husted to Stainbrook is pretty good:

Be advised, consistent with my letter of June 5, 2014, I will not let the Board of Elections slip backward into the dysfunction that has brought us here today. Should the Lucas County Republican Executive Committee choose to recommend two other electors to serve, I insist that they be unconnected to the well-documented problems of the past. Of the more than 29,000 registered Republicans in Lucas County, surely there are well-qualified individuals who can serve the voters of Lucas County with competence and integrity.

Stainbrook is never going to nominate anyone with less than total loyalty to him. Any bets on how many nomination rounds before the SoS fills the spots himself (if that is even an option)?

I think it's beautiful what Husted did. Absolutely brilliant.

In one letter, Husted outed Stainbrook for being an utter idiot, as indicated in the italicized typeface above.

And Jon has run out of "inner circle" nominations. Now he must turn to the rest of the Republicans to please Husted.

Let's see how the clown prince of the LCRP handles real pressure.

Jon is far from running out of inner circle nominations; he has plenty of more lackeys who have probably stayed away from the BoE but who would love to have that paycheck.

But now his pride is at stake - he was slapped down on his nominations and he doesn't like it. Will be interesting to see if he'll go to court over it like the Blade article this morning stated. He no longer has DeGidio to do his cheap legal work for him (rumor was Bensman and Gallagher wrote the briefs, etc., DeGidio just signed whatever they put in front of him); does he have the money for a real attorney?

I understand and appreciate what you're saying, MrsArcher, but I'm pretty certain by now the Sec. of State has acquired a list to work from.

Mr Husted has pegged the clown prince of the LCRP. Jon better do the right thing before Mr Husted does something embarrassing enough to warrant a chat with the State GOP.

Jon's a tad "comfy" with things if they stay local. He has "control" over that. Once the "ripple" hits the state party's shoreline, well, I can only speculate from here.

Well, I wonder if we are now at that point. Now Stainbrook refuses to select different nominees to the BoE.

http://www.toledoblade.com/Politics/2014/07/03/Lucas-Co-GOP-refuses-to-pick-new-nominees.html

This alternative LCRP also intrigues me. Although it was described as Tea Partiers, it does include Rob Ludeman and Judge Handwork, who are hardly bomb throwers. I wonder whether the state GOP might actually consider switching affiliations to the alternative group. I can only imagine the litigation that will ensue if that is the case.

I'm not suggesting that Husted can or will ignore the Stain GOP. What I am wondering is whether the state GOP will get sick of the Stain and his obsession with the BoE and decide to recognize the splinter GOP group. I mean, what is Stain's end game with the BoE? He and Meghan will never work there again. He should concentrate on doing what the head of the local GOP traditionally does: recruiting and electing Republican candidates to office.

The guy's goal the whole time was to secure a big-assed paycheck for himself and his, ummmmm, crew.

And clearly he is way too stupid to even hold on to such a simple job. A job he got fired from. Let THAT sink in a moment.

And as far as a "Noe-esque" expose`, it was the local paper that propped the "Clown Prince of the LCRP" up in the first place. It's still a tad early to "eat it's young".

The petition filed Thursday with the Ohio Supreme Court says that Mr. Husted, also a Republican, rejected nominees Kelly Bensman and Ben Roberts based on false accusations that they contributed to the dysfunction that has plagued the board of elections in recent years.

“The Secretary has rejected the LCRP Executive Committee recommendations of Ms. Bensman and Mr. Roberts on the improper basis of mere suspicion, unsubstantiated allegations, and personal opinions, without a shred of verified factual evidence that would demonstrate that either of them are not competent,” the complaint charges. From The Blade article

Without a shred of evidence? What about Ben Roberts' resignation letter, where he claimed "the preference continues to be partisan politics as usual."

His letter:

Board Members:

I am driven to make a difference.

The allure of putting aside politics and running an efficient operation engaged me; on July 18th 2011, I looked forward to working together with all members of the staff and Board to make the LCBOE an example of an effective and efficient operation. Though the LCBOE has a sorted past, my desire was to reach across the aisle, improve the process and work for all citizens and voters of Lucas County.

Looking back over the past 5 months, it has been made abundantly clear that my experience and expertise in strategy, operations, policy, procedure and project management is not welcomed at the LCBOE; the preference continues to be partisan politics as usual.

Sadly, the LCBOE continues to operate in the same manner that has earned both judicial and Secretary of State oversight. Files of historical reports show that time and time again, the LCBOE has been informed of deficiencies and has been given direction and countermeasures, but none to very few actions have ever been taken to mitigate these shortcomings. In fact, any forward progress that may have seen the light of day continues to be overshadowed by undermining partisan politics.

It is true, that the LCBOE can tactically execute the tasks of vote gathering and tallying results, as witnessed on 11/08/11. Unfortunately, the LCBOE performance still ranks last or nearly last in the state primarily due to personnel driven issues.

The LCBOE is a caustic environment and not the norm across the 88 counties of Ohio.

Speaking with officials at the SOS office and Directors/Deputies in other counties, they continue to be surprised and shocked at the shenanigans surrounding Lucas County.

Alleged items such as email fraud, one party with both access keys, improper handling/destruction of documents, forced agendas, lack of policy/procedure, and an overall theme of obscuring transparency and accountability are the norm. More time is spent overall dealing with infighting and legal battles than the core BOE operations.

Seeing that it has been made nearly impossible for me to make a difference for the residents and voters of Lucas County, by this letter I resign my appointment as Director of the LCBOE effective end of business 12/09/11.

So much for being "driven to make a difference."

There's this too... http://www.toledofreepress.com/2012/08/17/protesters-former-employees-question-validity-of-boe/

"Within the past year, a director and two board members resigned, at least three full-time employees quit and four were fired. Since firing the information technology manager, the board has yet to find a replacement. Tim Ide, who worked for the board for almost a year, was not fired. He just stopped going in.

“I could do whatever I wanted,” Ide said. “They referred to me numerous times and to other people: ‘He’s a time bomb, he’s a time bomb. We can’t hire him, we can’t fire him, what do we do with him?’ I wish I had a dollar for every time Jon Stainbrook came to me and said, ‘Don’t f*** me, man.’”

Ide ended up telling his secret. In a letter he sent to the entire board and to media outlets, Ide wrote that Republican BOE member Stainbrook and BOE Director Gallagher took him to lunch at San Marcos Taqueria and asked him to set up a laptop computer in the director’s office to recruit his Facebook friends to join the Stainbrook faction of the Lucas County Republican Party, on county time.

Ide said he said no.

“I said, ‘Oh my gosh, Jon — what are you doing? Why did you say that? That is a felony right there and now I’ve got to live with this.’ I have to walk around going, ‘I’ve got the goods on felony activity going on’,” Ide said. “Pay you to do Republican party business on the clock — that’s illegal. They wanted to set me up in their office and ask my Facebook friends, ‘Hey, any interest in becoming a Republican?’”
