I am considering driving over there stone sober and then turning around at the last minute to see how big the dragnet becomes for a person just going about their business.

"Why did you turn around?"
"Because no-cause checkpoints are unconstitutional."
"Have you been drinking?"
"No. Have you?"
"Can we search your vehicle?"
"You have no probable cause."
"Yeah, well, probably cause is a fallacy anyway. Step out of the car."

Ok, I am not really going to do that. Too Larry Sykes-ish.

Get yourself one of those beer can cozy's. Stick a can of your favorite soda in it or even a non-alcoholic beer substitute like O'Dooles. Stick it up on your dash and drive up to the checkpoint and let the games begin.

The y keep targeting essentially 2 areas-the Reynolds/airport/McCord/central square and then Navarre. I wonder why they keep dipping back into those areas.

They use Ottawa Hills, Sylvania Township and Toledo police at Central and Reynolds; Holland police, Lucas County sheriff's deputies and Ohio State Patrol at Dorr and McCord; and Ohio State patrol, Maumee and Toledo police and Lucas County sheriffs deputies on Holland Sylvania.

Yep, same spots almost every time. I think they said it was because statistics show they are high probability areas for DUIs and other nonsense. I'm not complaining, but it seems like they would change things up location-wise from time to time. Of course if they put a checkpoint at Dorr and Detroit, they would really have their hands full.

Its like they dont want to catch drunk drivers, keep having checkpoints in the same spots which they have to advertise in paper/internet and never catch anybody. What good is this actually doing??? How many lives are being saved from this???

It's the latest technology - stealth checkpoint. Mixman Dorr and Detroit wouldn't work. The courts don't take food vouchers for payment.
