Any thoughts or comments on Jack Ford running for office against Edna Brown?????

Thought: Toledo elects poor representatives.

What do you think has motivated Jford to do this in view of all of his serious health problems??

Money. Somewhere, somehow...money.

Let's examine a few more facts. Here is a self made man who was not born with a silver spoon. He has been an educator at the university level for tens of years and is today still at UT. Multiple city council member and is today on council. Former state representative serving as minority leader under the Taft administration. Former mayor of the City of Toledo,(a thankless job if ever there was one) and very pertinent today, worked in substance abuse with Sassy of Toledo.

Negative discussions regarding demeanor and state of health fly in the face of the facts. The accumulated public service work results in one word: wisdom. Hardly the palm up notion provided by oht.

What Ford does in his private life doesn't matter here. What has he done in public life that amounts to a hill of beans?

Did he make Toledo a more desirable place while he was mayor? What did he do to make Toledo a point of destination?

Can you name one signature accomplishment of his as a member of council?

Can you name any initiative he took while a member of the BOE?

Yes he did become the Democratic leader of the House while in the General Assembly, but that was during a period where the Democrats had just about no influence in state government. He did nothing that made the Democrats look like they were prepared to govern. Think about it, the voters of Ohio decided the corrupt Taft Republicans were preferable to the Dems.

This is the wisdom Toledo needs? I think OHT's first comment is justified.

Ford solved Toledo's blight problem in approximately 3.5 hours, so it' on to the state legislature.

Then he'll run for mayor of Toledo in 2017.

Nowhere in my statement did I talk about his demeanor or state of health.

I said somewhere at the root of this is money. He is not running for priest and taking a vow of poverty. Something about taking out Edna Brown is driving this run and I don't know what--but I do know what most people are motivated by.

I could have said "power", but I don't think that's what he is about. I don't know how much he hates Edna Brown, but I have a hard time believing that is the motivating force. Someone--a backer or cohort of backers--believes that he can be elected with minimal effort, since that's about all he gave to get the highest or second-highest number of votes for the City Council election last year. I am positive backers, with money, view him as a turnkey candidate and someone they can depend on to vote their way.

He is an old man with health problems--that is a fact. My statement would be applicable if he was a younger man with zero problems.

Accumulation of titles in public service or private industry does not indicate accomplishment with those titles.

Dude unabashedly falls asleep during City Council meetings. All. The. Time.

It's embarrassing.

For all of Toledo.
