Praying for her safe return.

"Turner was on the phone with a friend when she stopped at the intersection to investigate a person lying on the side of the road. While still on the phone, the victim told her friend that an unknown male person had a gun and that he was following her."---

This scenario isn't crystal clear to me. So, she stopped to help someone who had been injured/shot by the unknown male with a gun, and then he started going after her?

Or, maybe the person laying on the side of the road was bait?

Exactly what I'm assuming. I've read that kind of scenario before but always assumed it was urban legend.

I think the old stories about people laying under your car and slashing your tendon when walked up to get in was an urban legend, and also the stories about gangs driving with their lights off, then shooting the first person who flashed their headlights at them.

As for bait, in a situation like this, I don't know. I had a friend whose dad was a truck driver, and I remember him saying in passing once that truck drivers don't like to stop and help stranded people who are alone, because it put them at risk for a hijack. But, I can think of at least two instances in my life where I was stranded and truck drivers stopped to help me, so maybe he was full of crap...

It's also possible she stumbled upon a crime in progress, and the perpetrator was going after her as a witness.

I sure hope they find her safe.

Social media sites are rampant with rumors, people just can't resist piling on

I seen this on the news and heard it on the radio. They found her car abandoned but I didn't catch where. Just the info given doesn't sound too good for the girl, but I am sure hoping I am wrong and they find her alive.

Oh and that is probably only about 5 miles from my house.

Missing Bedford Township 18-year-old found alive
(WJBK) -

UPDATE>> Ecorse Public Safety director said that he heard Hayley Turner say she was abducted.

She was taken to Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte and had minor injuries, according to Fox 2's Randy Wimbley.

Turner, 18, who went missing Thursday night, Ecorse Public Safety Director Darren Johnson said there was a dispatch call received by Ecorse spotted on 19th and Salliotte.

"A dispatch call in regards to someone observing someone walking down the street without a shirt on," Johnson said. "Upon arrival we came into contact with the person who helped her. From that point we went on with our standard operating procedure."

A tipster who called into dispatch said that Turner had jumped out of a moving car. The 911 caller told dispatchers that she did not have a shirt on, said an officer to Fox 2.

By the time police arrived, she was wearing a shirt.

Police say it is unclear if she was assaulted.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office had been investigating the possible abduction of Turner.

In a press conference Sheriff Dale Malone said that at about 3:30 p.m. the Monroe County Sheriff's Office received word that Turner had been found.

Malone said that more information will be relayed soon, and that the investigation is ongoing.

More than 40 officers were involved in the search from various departments and that Turner's cell phone was found due to a tip from the community.

Malone thanked the community and media for responding in a timely manner after Turner went missing. He said the tips helped lead to a "positive outcome.

Ruh-roh: now the story appears to have been faked by the purported victim.

Crazy! Just Crazy!

Why would she leave her car idling at the side of the road? this makes no sense.

Its really unfortunate because the first thing I thought when I heard the story was "Am I doing enough to teach my daughter not to get abducted", but then the second thing I thought was "this doesn't sound right" which leads to a lack of a sense of urgency when things like this happen. I'm glad she was found safe, but I hope she gets what she deserve and not just "she already feels bad and has learned her lesson".

Any idea why she would do something so stupid? Attention seeking?

***Irresponsible Speculation warning*** :-)

I don't think it's attention. Sounds like a potential cover-up to me. Subject got herself in trouble with something else and wanted to use a "bad guy" as the perpetrator to cover her own deed or deeds. Easier to be a victim than take responsibility.

No knowledge, no rumors heard, just wild, uninformed internet speculation, which I'm really, really good at.

Maybe she is afraid to admit she was abducted by aliens?? rofl if your gonna speculate go all out.

So, if the only person she lied to was her friend and she was completely honest or silent with the cops/FBI could she get away with no charges?

posted by bucknut on Aug 11, 2014 at 05:13:43 pm     #

i don't think so buck, maybe if the police hadn't gotten involved with searching for her and it was her relatives or friends that had been the ones to find her.

Looks like they are going to file charges after all.
