IPhone screen repair

Any places around town that replace iphone screens? My wife's screen is nicely shattered and isn't due for a new phone till after the new year.

We've gone to place at the mall twice (don't ask) and while they always made it right, it always involved multiple trips and a ton of time. They also charge $140 a pop, which is way too high, especially considering how hassle they caused.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you are so willing, ifixit.com is a great resource. They have the parts and tutorials to make this a breeze. I've replaced the battery on my iPhone in minutes, and a neighbor replaces his daughters iPhone 5 screen with ease.

I went the "replace the screen yourself" route with an iPhone a year or so ago. If there is no internal damage, screen replacement is not that difficult, but when I dropped my brand new iPhone and shattered the screen I also damaged some solder connections on the inside (or else my ham-fisted poking around broke them).

The net result was that I wasted $29 on parts and wound up with a phone even less functional than before (the touchscreen functions worked, but nothing lit up, so I had to guess where the answer button was).

You could wait a few weeks until the 6 comes out and pick up a used 5 from one of the millions that just have to get the 6.
