Toledo Talk

Catacombs at Toledo Memorial Park ?

Does anyone know about the catacombs ? And no, I'm not talking about the Catacombs coffee house/teen hang out (wink wink) that was on Main Street in Sylvania in the 1970's. (For those of you like myself who remember that place, you will know why I say wink wink, it was anything but a coffee house, geez , we sure weren't drinking " coffee").

Supposedly there were miles of catacombs built at Toledo Memorial Park, but the project was stopped during the Depression, because of a lack of funds, and everything - the catacombs, the tunnels, the crypts are all still buried underground there.

I can't find anything, except this link .

Just curious if anyone knows if they are still underground there , or did they actually destroy them, and then cover them up ?

I'm not sure why, but I'm kind of fascinated and yet creeped about it at the same time...................

I looked at the oldest aerial photo on the Lucas co areis website and you can see signs that there used to be something there.

When I was a teen in the early 90s, my friends and I spent countless nights trying to find our way into the catacombs. We KNEW they were around, but could never find the entrance.

I'm kinda irked we didn't look behind the mausoleum now.
