Tom Waniewski was elected District 5 Toledo City Councilman in November 2007 and re-elected to the same position in 2011.

Tom is a life-long resident of Northwest Ohio, although his television career took him for a spell to St. Louis and Detroit. Growing up in the Polish neighborhood of North Toledo, Tom developed his values from hard-working parents. His father, Steve, ran a small butcher shop and grocery store on Lagrange Street. His mother, Clara, worked at the General Motors Transmission plant on Alexis Road.
A graduate of St. Adalbert Grade School, St. Francis DeSales High School, The University of Toledo, and Bowling Green State University, Tom is a published author, writer, and current Resource Development Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo.
His commitment to public service is unparalleled through his journalism career and in the many not-for-profit organizations he has been affiliated with.
Tom has always said his greatest accomplishment is being a good father to his daughter Jordan. Tom currently resides in West Toledo.
