Paying less is important now, alternatives soon is important too. And how about ending the sauduction of America? Cost and ending foreign influence are of more immediate importance than environmental concerns--however environment must be considered after we solve the top 2 problems. What do you all think?

If you're considering the environment, who do you think would be better stewards of it? Oil fields run by the US, or fields run by someone else?

drilling is going to give us what... 2 cents off the gallon... in no less than 4 to 6 years...? like that's really going to be helpful.

the oil companies will benefit greatly though, and they have every reason to get an oil-man in office this november.

Doesn't really matter...different countries, same equipment and companies doing the drilling.

JHost:

Didn't the price drop $6 a barrel immediately and continue to slide through this week upon President "Oil-Man" dropping the executive ban on offshore drilling?

Aren't oil prices set by "speculation" on FUTURE supply and demand on a 2-10 year curve?

Is there any other way to effect the price OPEC charges besides increasing supply, refining capacity AND alternative sources such as nuclear, coal, and electric?

Stop the class envy and Bush bashing. Make a logical energy (or any other subject) argument without using the names Bush, Cheney, Halliburton, and spouting the evils of capitalism. Good luck.

Wow, TAHL goes where NO economist goes. Tying the drop in oil prices to a "non-event". Well done. Elsewhere, reports everywhere show that demand for oil is down, and the dollar is regaining strength.

Well pink- nice to see one liberal using facts.

I am happy to go where no liberl economist has gone, but don't give me the credit of having a purely novel original thought.

That "none event" happenned. I agree and understand why the drop continued, but disagree with your convenient dismissal of the effect future drilling prospects have on global market decisions.
