Windows 10 Update

Wonder if anyone else is having this problem? Windows 10 recently updated on my laptop. Programs, which I have used for nearly 2 years without any
issues, suddenly disappeared and were inoperative. It cost me $100 at my
computer repair store to discover that the updated Windows 10 deletes programs that are not Microsoft based. It doesn't ask, it just deletes programs such as Chrome and LibreOffice that I use every day.

Fortunately, my computer repair guy found the problem, reinstalled the software and hopefully, fixed something so it won't happen again. While I am
computer literate, up to a point, I am not capable of fixing issues like this.

Where does a company such as Microsoft get off deleting software on my computer without permission?

Can you tell us the description and number of the update?

Sorry, no. I had been declining to install most updates since I bought this laptop nearly 2 years ago. When Chrome was removed
without my consent, I took the laptop in to my repair shop. They
insisted on installing all the Windows 10 updates I had declined.
I think the update causing this is fairly recent.

I find when I get comfortable with certain programs there are always subsequent changes that really are not improvements for me and I just get tired of adjusting to new things that are of no benefit to the programs I use, such as LibreOffice's version of Word and Excel.

I have two Win 10 boxes at home - one a laptop and the other a desktop. Both are current on M$ patches and I did not experience any loss of non-M$ programs.
