Toledo Talk

Budapest - End of an Era

I saw in today's Blade that the owner of the old Budapest building on Monroe is selling all the kitchen and counter fixtures. I ate there several times when I was new in town and it was such a blast from the past. I wonder what the building will become ... and I wonder if we'll see those old fixtures in newer, hipster cafes around town :)

I don't see anything great going into that space. It's a terrible location for a lot of different reasons. Frankly, I'm surprised the kids held on for so long.

That building is like a bi-level haircut. Business up front, party in the back. I am pretty sure it was a home and many years ago a half of a building got built where the front yard was. Sure looks like it.

i thought i had heard a record store/music type business was moving into it and it did appear to be open a couple times doing that type of business... but perhaps just a flash operation

June 2011. At least I think that's what I read before the paywall kicked in.
