Best local or regional bank

Hey there!

I'm looking to refinance my home and keep my mortgage local. Has anyone had any recent positive experiences with a local or regional bank?

I used First Federal based on a recommendation, and it was a positive experience

I don't think there is any guarantee that your mortgage will stay local regardless of what financial institution you use.

I switched over to Farmers & Merchants from a much larger bank last year, and have been very happy I did. Their service alone has made it worth it. Quick turnaround on questions, issues get resolved fast, sometimes within hours (as opposed to weeks, as I was used to.)

I've been a member of Glass City Federal Credit Union for ten years. I dont have any loans through them, but no problems, no stupid charges, etc. Ditto earlier comment - no matter where you get a mortgage, the bank will likely sell it to a third party vendor within days. We just got a mortgage last week through Genoa Bank - smooth process - and they already sold it.

I've had no problems with NOIC. I bought my home in 2004. At that time, they said they keep the loans local. My loan is still serviced here.
