Anyone know the reason?
Was there a shooting on the 4th?
I think Detroit is having some with they Jazz fest.

Are fireworks good for the environment?

Maybe it's because the city spent too much money, renovating the Erie Street Market for concerts.
Erie Street Market renovations will exceed $100,000 - $20,000 more than the Finkbeiner administration previously reported and $60,000 more than originally intended to make the city-owned building ready for concerts.
Sounds more plausible than a lack of rainfall. Fireworks are pretty controlled. They kind of know where and when they're going to land if they don't completely burn out.
I would imagine the cost of policing the crowd can get pricey.
Just a wild guess here, but no rain in 5 weeks and everything's dry as tinder??
