Seeking Local Restaurant

Bonus points for those who can answer this. My first week at work, I helped a co-worker fix her computer, in exchange she bought my lunch from a local "popular?" place. All I know it's hungarian, located on Monroe street somewhat near downtown and was apparently very popular. It was closed down, and someone else opened it up later but continued on the "old tradition" recipes.

The dish I had was Veal (first time) and Chicken dumplins (?) basically not a noodle but reminded more of a dumpling from Texas, in a chicken gravy sauce.

Anyway, next to Tony Paco's it's the best thing I've eaten.

Know what it is?
I feel silly asking here what it is, as I asked once my co-worker and forget months back.
Though I'm craving it again, so might belly up to it and ask again if noone else knows :)

I pass that restaurant often on my way to work downtown (on days when I choose not to take 475).

Of course, now that I'm on the spot, I'm drawing a blank on the name. Damn...I could describe the restaurant and its sign to you, just not the name.

I'll look again today...will be heading out to work soon anyhow.

I think you are thinking of The Budapest, about a mile east of Toledo Hospital on Monroe.

It is the Budapest, on the corner of Monroe and Auburn. Haven't been there in years...

I see others have already told you the name of the restaurant. Hope you enjoy it. :)

Don't forget to find out the hours, they are not open every day for lunch and dinner. Don't forget to save room for strudel!

The Budapest is actually 2 blocks east of Auburn, halfway to RR underpass on north side of Monroe, # 3314.

Closed Mondays.
Tues. thru Fri. 11am to 8:30pm
Sat. 4pm to 8:30pm
Sun. 11:30am to 6:30pm

Yes, quite good - I'm often there with my bike.
