Has anyone ever used The Dental Center of Northwest Ohio on Madison in Downtown Toledo? If so, comments or suggestions?

I have. I thought they were wonderful. THe people who work there are very freindly and compasionate. I had several infected teeth that needed pulled and they got me in on an emergency basis. Didn't have to deal with the crap at a regular dentists office about paying up front, they took my insurance info and just sent me a bill (which they allowed to pay over time). The only problem is they dont have late hours and there usually is a lot of people waiting, but don't let that fool you they have many people working there and i've never had to wait more than 20 minutes. Oh and parking can be tricky if there is a lot of people. Hope this helps.
I'm glad you brought this subject up. I need to change dentists. I'm way, way, way overdue for a cleaning. I struggle with a serious phobia of dental work, which at my age is embarrasing. I once got hooked through the lip like a large mouth bass with a dental instrument. Novacain doesn't always work and I wind up hanging off the dental light. An expensive piece of bridge work broke in two pieces a week after it was seated and while I was on vacation. Believe it or not the list of mishaps goes on. Hence, I have to really work up the courage now just to get basic care. Are there any dentists in the Holland area that take mental cases?
Frankel and Associates in Maumee= best dental service ever!

Holland, you may want to make sure whichever dentist you choose provides nitrous oxide, you'd be amazed at how well it works to relax you. (the dental center doesn't use it though)
I cant say enough good about Dental Health Associates.

I go to the Sylvania Branch (Sylvania Ave. across from the Anderson's market)
They also have offices in Swantucky.
Ive been going there since my other dentist retired, and honestly, they're better than he was. Friendly staff, good dentists, and you can get in to see them relatively quickly if you need to.
I've used the Dental Center on Madison a few times. I've had to wait a little while, but the staff has always been very courteous and informative. They felt bad the last time I was there. I had an appointment set up to have a root canal done, but once I got there and got in the chair we "discovered" that my dental insurance at the time did not pay for root canals. I needed something done ASAP because of the amount of pain I was in, so I just told them to go ahead and do an extraction because it would be a few weeks before I would be in a position to afford a root canal and there was no way I could wait that long for relief.
The extraction went very smoothly, I never felt a thing. But I've never had anything but kindness and professionalism from them at any visit!

Yes, the Dental Center is fine. All of the foster children who have been with us at least six months went there, so I got to know the place well. Courteous staff, knowledgeable dentists, and relatively quick service. It is sometimes busy, but I've never had to wait more than 20-30 minutes past the scheduled time.

I recommend contacting Dr. Richard Licker OBGYN.
He has pulled quite a few teeth of mine due to over crowding.
Cordially,
Sarah Palin
I appreciate the posts, Thank You!
Holland, I'd bet you I am more of a coward when it comes to dental work than you are. I'm actually a certified coward!!! LOL
Anyway, I'm looking into this place because they will do it for a reduced fee. Where I normally go would run 800-900 for a root canal. This place has said it would run me around 300.00. Since my dental benefits are used up for the calendar year, I'm thinking that's a hell of a lot of savings if they do good work.
Again, Thanks!

Ryan Ryan Ryan.
The "Troll Score" on your comment is off the charts. Totally unnecessary and not even funny (unless you're 13 years old).

Some will never let it go. I deliberately stayed off this farceboard until after the elections, because I couldn't take the goading and the rabid hatred any more. Figured it might go back to pleasant conversation. It looks like it's never going to stop. They WON-and it's still not enough. Not that you're an angel, either.
Incidentally, my lady friend had her false teeth preperation and her plates made there. Everyone treated her very nice. The loooonnnggg waits did drive me insane, though.
Is that where you went? Cause seriously, I did wonder. Glad your back – again seriously. No hate – I missed your light hearted threads.

I'm absolutely phobic about the dentist and all things dental. I used to go to Dr. Robert Morison in Toledo, but he's retired. The good doctor showed me how to get past a lot of my phobia.
If you're phobic, ask for one or two Xanax pills before the appointment. Then make sure that nitrous is available on site. Tell the dentist about any special problems you have, such as Novocaine not always working the way it should. You can also request one or two pain pills for after the work is finished. Tell the doctor you want the serious pain medication, not the glorified Tylenol he prescribes for everyone else.
Dentists are loathe to prescribe Xanax or serious pain medication. You may have to go to your family physician for this, which is fine.
Believe me, one Xanax and you won't care about anything. You'll feel perfectly normal sitting in that chair.
In the Holland area is G.E.D. (Great Expressions Dental) which is a chain, this being the only office here- 5950 Airport Hwy. It's in the strip mall across from St. John's HS.
