What! You mean Obama isn't a terrorist? Who knew!

LMAO Holland!

Now the haters are upset that he ISN’T a terrorist. Otherwise Al Queda may have liked him more. Does anybody think they were going to throw a party for any president?

Laughable.

Actually, many "haters" had among their concerns that Al Queda would be doubly inflamed by the election of Barack Obama because of his Muslim blood.

The link to Breitbart doesn't mention it, but other news outlets such as the Christian Science Monitor (sadly ceasing their print operations! but that's off-topic) did report that Zawahiri did in fact call out Obama for turning away from Islam. http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/1120/p25s19-wome.html

In radical Islam, the infidel born to a Muslim but who rejects the religion is WORSE than your average-everyday infidel. They call it apostasy, and extremists consider it punishable by death. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostasy_in_Islam

And lest I be misinterpreted here, I am referring to the fact that Obama's father was a Muslim.

Here is a New York Times article written in May, 2008 about this very thing: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/12/opinion/12luttwak.html?ref=opinion

The Times article relates:

"As the son of the Muslim father, Senator Obama was born a Muslim under Muslim law as it is universally understood. It makes no difference that, as Senator Obama has written, his father said he renounced his religion. Likewise, under Muslim law based on the Koran his mother's Christian background is irrelevant.

Of course, as most Americans understand it, Senator Obama is not a Muslim. He chose to become a Christian, and indeed has written convincingly to explain how he arrived at his choice and how important his Christian faith is to him.

His conversion, however, was a crime in Muslim eyes; it is "irtidad" or "ridda," usually translated from the Arabic as "apostasy," but with connotations of rebellion and treason. Indeed, it is the worst of all crimes that a Muslim can commit, worse than murder (which the victim's family may choose to forgive).

With few exceptions, the jurists of all Sunni and Shiite schools prescribe execution for all adults who leave the faith not under duress; the recommended punishment is beheading at the hands of a cleric, although in recent years there have been both stonings and hangings. (Some may point to cases in which lesser punishments were ordered -- as with some Egyptian intellectuals who have been punished for writings that were construed as apostasy -- but those were really instances of supposed heresy, not explicitly declared apostasy as in Senator Obama's case.)"

^I tried for 20 minutes to block quote/italicize/bold/whatever that but the textile writing guide is apparently too sophisticated for me. Grrrrr. Sorry.

"Haters" are concerned with how much radical Muslims hate America(ns)?

I put "haters" in quotations because Ryan used it as a term to describe those who did not drink the Kool-Aid, er, I mean, did not fully support the president-elect in his Whitehouse bid.

The fact is there were many reasons to oppose Obama's candidacy and although this particular one was not at the top of the list, it (apotasy) was in fact an item that was discussed amongst those who did not want to see Obama in the Oval Office. The theory as discussed was that Muslim extremists would be extra vengeful against our nation if led by someone who had committed the worst crime of all crimes against Islam ... thus putting us at additional risk as a nation.

The counter-argument would be of course that radical Muslims would detest a war veteran (McCain) or a woman (Clinton) as well, thereby negating Obama's apostasy.

I'm not sure as to the intent of your question, UM, but hopefully I answered it. In full self-disclosure, I don't like being called a "hater," myself, particularly when I haven't done anything actually motivated by hate.

EES, the CSM will remain an online publication, so at least it'll still be around. I assume we'll see more and more publications go to online-only. That will be OK in many ways until more and more publications realize they need to start charging for site access.

The CSM had such a neat print format, though. So thick and chock full of stuff, and I loved the tabloid size. Not sure if they already printed their last paper edition yet.

jmelong,

The pope has said that all the religions miss serving god, and the penalty for that is an eternal incineration in hell. Catholics regularly damn their members who leave the faith. I'm glad the muslim countries are supporting stem cell research, unlike our own. Not doing so is only costing us 2 million dead a year, for every year of the bush and catholic and baptist caused delays in research. Like the Taliban our collective zealot-idiot church has crossed into state with devastating numbers of murders via their thousands year old war on the practice of medicine and medical research.

That's weird. I thought the whole world was going to love us once Obama was elected. I just read in Obama's book (in his own words) "In times of political turmoil, I will stand with the muslims."

LMAO! Is that you Elisabeth Hasslebeck? I should have known better when you said you were reading a book. Obviously, you were not.
