have you guys checked out Pizza Papalis yet?
it's great! take a look at this post about it:
New Pizza Papalis downtown toledo

For those of us who work downtown, it's a welcome addition. Home Slice is alright, but you get sick of it after a while.

Sounds great! Anybody know if they are open for lunch?
man, that is a great font on the "Enjoying Toledo" logo. Anyone know what that is?

it's pretty filling pizza, so be careful you don't put yourself in a coma if you have it during lunch!
LOL! Yea, it looks like the “personal” 6 inch could easily be split two ways with a side salad and be PLENTY.
yeah we had the small 10" and between the two of us could only eat 2/3 of the pizza.
Great pizza. I just hope it stays busy enough to stay afloat. Downtown has not been the best area location for restaurants, and that particular spot is getting a reputation as a "death space," where nothing seems to be successful.

Well, let's hope they can stick it out. Maybe they got a decent incentive that will hold them over until they get a regular crowd. Some coworkers and I have already put it on our calenders for lunch.
And not to sound like a total alkie, but do they serve alkomahall?
I think there are plenty of downtown joints hanging in there... Grumpys, Packos, Michaels, Pam's Corner, Toledo Easy Street, Ranyas, the fast-food Chinese place, Spaghetti Warehouse (yuck), Downtown Latte, Homeslice, The Blarney...
Then you have the spots on Adams (uptown): Manhattans, Wesleys, Manos, Ottawa Tavern...
I'm sure I'm missing at least a couple.
I cannot agree more on Spaghetti Warehouse. I will never understand the appeal, ever.
And I love Pams Corner, good fresh quality stuff.
Yeah, Pam's is great. I just heard they are open on Saturdays -- and packed. I had no idea.
Can anyone compare Pizza Papalis to any other pizza place in-town? Looks like Uno's but thats far away from here.
I just hope they are paying a living wage to their employees.

The font is 'Didot' according to this site:
Awesome, thanks. There should be more discussions of fonts on this page. There should be more discussion of fonts everywhere.

That paticular spot is right next to the stadium and has not had any restaurants located there to my knowledge. It is the old location of Brenda's Body shop which has not been open for years.Maybe you are thinking of Banana Joes. That location has had many different venues over the years and seems to be one of those bad spots just like where Mezzmerize is located in Maumee.

Spaghetti Warehouse (yuck)
???
I like Spaghetti Warehouse. Guess I am an exception.
I liked Golden Lily too. I heard that they are relocating to Secor Road.
BTW when will McDonald's come back downtown?
Liking McDonald's and Spaghetti Warehouse must really marginalize me.
I am too lazy to go back and find the poster who said Pizza Papoli's is "just another pizza place," but their pizza is much more than just food. It is like sex in a box (pun intended).
My wife and I have made more than one trip to Detroit to enjoy their fare. She is adamant that PP must be successful in Toledo or she will be very, very upset. I don't like it when she is very, very upset. Please help in any way you can.

By the way, except for the smell, we also like Spaghetti Warehouse!

I'd say Papolis deep dish is a high end pizza-it's in a different league than the local places. Not a pie you'd run down to the corner and pick up, it's a special occasion type pizza. Their biggest positive, and hopefully not their downfall. The place is going to be gangbusters when the 'hens start.
Eagerly waiting to get downtown and have some.
I am a food addict. I have come to that conclusion. I am someone who prides myself on knowing whether or not food is good and it should exploited for its decadence. Well I am here to tell you that Pizza Papalis is one of those places. I have eaten probably well over a ton of pizza(not exxagerating!) in my life and this is by far the best pizza I have ever had. The price leaves something to be desired, but the lunch deal is amazing. Their junior pizza with salad is only like 7 bucks and with a drink is like 9. It is the perfect quick lunch and the taste leaves nothing to be desired. Don't be afraid to try some of their great combinations and live a little with a deep dish that will leave you wanting to never get up from the table!
I just got back from my first visit. Fantastic pie! That place is huge and boy was it packed (downtown lunch hour, decent day out, new place), so there is that to consider. The wait staff were all fast and friendly and I am sure making some serious tips right now. We got the 6” personal w/ a salad for 6.49. You can’t beat that. I couldn’t eat the whole thing, but that’s not because it wasn’t good.
Highly recommended.
I did not get the Deep Dish, but the flat (thin crust pie) was ok. Good amt. of cheese and pep. not enough sauce. My buddy did not want to wait 40 minutes for a deep dish..what an a-hole.
Okay, I went to Pizza Papalis tonight for the first time after a Walleye game and my experience was nothing to write home about. I opted for spaghetti with meatballs and the sauce was so tomatoey it could have come from a can. The salad was decent and the cookie sundae was good but I still need to try their pizza to see if it Pizza Papalis redeems itself.
You're reviewing a restaurant based on their spaghetti and meatballs? Wow. I'll bite my tongue on this one.

No, I am not reviewing a restaurant based solely on spaghetti. I am still interested in checking out their pizza and their nachos. I am merely saying that this one dish sucked. That's all.
Inga, we've been there a couple of times and after the first visit decided to order only their pizza from then on. Out of 7 meals we've had there now, only the pizza was any good, but it's enuff to keep bringing us back.
