Glassblowing Open House Tonight (Friday)

Matt Paskiet of Firenation Glass Studio and Gallery in Holland, OH will be holding an open house tonight from 7-10 PM. Matt's a superb local glass artist and one helluva great guy. The studio/gallery is located at 7166 Front St in Holland, map and directions are available at his website.

He'll also be featuring four other local artists, including Mark Matthews , known world-wide for his insane "marble" work. I say "marble" because the word is really an insult to his work, you've got to see it to believe it.

Also at the open house is a special exhibition of work by Scott Darlington, a 20 year glass veteran who does some truly unique and unexpected things with glass.

Glasblowing and flameworking demos will be going on throughout the night, drop on by... it's local, it's fun' it's free.

BTW, stop and say hi, I'll be the guy in the kilt.

There was an amazing documentary on WGTE recently that showed someone from Toledo making the worlds largest glass planet. From my understanding the final one that he was happy with is on display at the Toledo Museum.

The pics from the Mark Matthews website remind me of that, same chap?

I'm not absolutely certain, but I suspect the documentary was probably about Josh Simpson, from Vermont. "Megaplanet", the world's largest paperweight, was created and resides at the Corning Museum in New York.

Great shop - hidden Toledo area gem. Everyone should go see. The open house was very cool.

Thanks Firelands.

Please keep us posted if something like this happens in the future! I love glass and hope to take some classes in the future-- if I ever have time. Sad I missed this posting because I was out of town for a couple days.

Will do... Matt usually throws a shindig 2 or 3 times a year.
