Can you believe that someone actually stole the plates off my car in broad daylight? Wow! Anyone know how much this is going to cost me?
Stolen Plates!

report it immediately! Replacement plates are less than new if I remember correctly. What part of town did this happen?
Replacement plates are $6.50 provided they are not suspended or otherwise invalid. Report them missing to the police immediately as stated. You do not want to be investigated for robbing a convenience store or something.

It has already been reported. It was in South Toledo. Lock everything!

Exactly - this is an inconvenience if you report it ASAP, but $20 says those plates are already on a stolen car as we speak. If you think this is a pain, wait until the perp comits a crime and you are temporarily arrested as a suspect.
Agreed also that you should post the general area where this happened so we can be more aware. Car theft and plate theft can happen anywhere and at any time, but these kinds of crooks tend to operate close to their homes.
Also, after you get new plates, feel free to post the old plate numbers here. You never know: maybe a Toledo Talker will see your plates and call them in. I have a memory for useless information like that, while remembering where my car keys are? Impossible.

I'm sorry that happened to you, I know it is a pain in the rear. I had the renewal sticker stolen off my car a few years back and didn't know it until I got pulled over for expired tags. The officers were nice about it once they realized that I was no threat; you could see where the tag was cut off. This happens all the time.
By the way, mine disappeared in S. Toledo also.
Our church had em taken off their church van in Sylvania!
On a related note, make sure you remove your plates from a car you sell privately. A long time ago, when we were young and stupid and doing everything for the first time, the hub sold our old car thru a Blade ad (read: to a total stranger). 2 days later, we were rousted out of bed at 11:30p by cops looking for a robbery suspect. Yup, our plates were reported on the getaway car. It was cleared up quickly...the getaway car was not the VW bug the plates identified...I think the cops just rousted us to teach us a lesson.
