Mom's day plans?

So does anyone have plans with their mom that DOESNT involve going out to eat? Crowded restaurants are the absolute last place my mom wants to go...

She's 72, walks 3 miles a day, and would much rather go DO something than go someplace, wade thru a noisy crowd and have dinner.

any ideas?

Golden Corral anyone?

ROFL Ace_Face! We actually went there for dinner last week and not only had a very decent meal, but the entire staff that we interacted with was pleasant and right there when or if you needed them. I was a bit leery of eating there, but was happy afterward!

As for my plans, I have to work 6 am to 11 am, but am doing so willingly. After that, I'm honestly not sure what we're doing. We may be moving, we may be spending time with family, or we may do absolutely nothing. After working three shifts today, I'll honestly rooting for a day of doing nothing.

I have to stay at home and finish our kitchen and my oldest two kid's bedroom, wife has to work, and my mom will probably do something with the kids.

Billy,

If your mom's in good of shape she can come hang some drywall. lol Seriously though it's always good to see older people that can still get around.

Does she enjoy the one-arm bandits?

Take her up to Detroit to one of the casinos. Head out early and beat the late afternoon crowds.

Head out to Magee Marsh with a picnic, I imagine there's still lots of warblers to see out there.

We used to take my Grandma and Mother to Webber's. They loved it and the food was great. They would talk about old Toledo and I would love every minute of it. Window seat was the best.

What about the zoo?

From their website: The Zoo is full of great moms. When you bring your mom, that’ll be one more! On Mother’s Day, Sunday May 10, all moms receive FREE admission when they come to the Zoo with their children.

Whatever you do, enjoy your time together.

I was thinking of the Zoo, but felt some of you may have felt it was a ridiculous suggestion.

I thought about mentioning the Zoo too, but then noticed that billy mentioned something about avoiding crowds.

We went to the Zoo one year with my kids for Mother's Day. It was a lot of fun, but also very crowded.

Also, I've heard that the Mud Hens are having a Mother's Day event of some sort. Not sure exactly what's going on yet - just that there's a game that afternoon, and some sort of special promotion?

We used to take my Grandma and Mother to Webber's.

Webbers of late is running more on their reputation from past years than anything else - it's actually pretty sad any more.

I do like the magee marsh or ottawa national wildlife refuge suggestion - I think she'd love that, thanks!

billy, we owe a lot to our moms. Take her to the Toledo Zoo- plenty of walking there. Give her a card, too...and enclose a gift certificate to some retail store.
