not El Ponderosa?

LOL! Man how I used to adore Ponderosa. It was the only steak place me and my friends could afford in high school.

Anyway I just checked out that website and it seems very similar to El Suenos (which I LOVE) and Cinco de Mayos site as well. I had heard they were owned by relatives at one point, I wonder if this one is as well.

Anyhoos, El Suenos deck just opened so people should head out there for a nice time of good eats and drink outside!

How do you like the food at El Sueno? I had it on what I think is good authority that the food was pretty poor. I really like El Camino - how would you say the two stack up?

I love El Suenos food and everybody that I have either gone with or suggested to says the same thing. I like El Camino, but for my taste buds, El Sueno is a step up. I also prefer their margaritas. El Caminos are too medicinal for me. Also, the service is always terrific as well. The inside is very bright and basic, but I go for the food, not the furnishings. I will be interested to see how the patio business does. I guess you need to go and see for yourself. Everybodys tastes are different. I still have friends that swear by Carmels and then I have friends that think their food sucks anymore. I would put El Sueno right up there with Venturas. But a heck of a lot closer! Also – the prices are ridiculously low. I went on a day off once for lunch and got the special of the day (chimichanga, beans and guacamole salad) and a margarita and the total with tax was 8 bucks!

Venturas has great margaritas but their food is the worst in town. Though it is fun watching the 40+ meat market in the bar any given night.

Really? I haven't been in years, but it used to be great. Or maybe I was drunk and only thought it was good because we never went because of the distance, lol.

Oh geez... I think the worst has to be Fritz and Alfredos. Had "mexican" there once. Blehhhh... and the waitress gave me a funny look, like I was the first person to ask this, when I asked for hot sauce. I didn't even get a bottle... it was in a little plastic cup!

BEWARE of anything in a little plastic cup.

Which one is El Sueno? I don't think I'm familiar with that place.

Speaking of Mexican...I've only been to the place on Airport Hwy out towards Swanton one time (Loma Lindas, I think?). But I was so disappointed in it. I ordered a chicken enchilada, and it came with American cheese. At a Mexican restaurant? Total turnoff.

The inside of the enchilada was tasty. However, the fact that I waited so long (busy Friday night) for an enchilada covered in American cheese just struck me as odd. lol

My family is are fans of El Camino (Real and Sky). We get the double order of fajitas for about $20 (can't remember the exact price) and split it between 4-5 adults w/leftovers!!!! Wonderful value for good food.

I don't think I've ever had a disappointing experience with Mexican food. (Best I ever had was in a little greasy mom 'n pop joint in San Bruno, CA, one block off of Huntington St., around the corner from the Mexicatessen, LOL, but that doesn't help anyone here, sorry.)

I liked the El Camino Real in BG, but I've never been to one up here. We are fans of Mi Hacienda's on Glanzman because it's close by where both the boyfriend and I live. The food always comes super-fast! Occasionally you will find a menu item that doesn't come with cheese, and you have to ask for it. What's Mexican food without cheese?
