So how do you report medicaid fraud?

I googled about, and everywhere I went, it was just all about catching the medical provider. What about the scuzzballs who lie about their employment status and get publicly funded medical care while they're earning a good living under the table and not paying any taxes on their earnings?

Are they self employed? If not, start by reporting the business that's paying under the table. Start with the Dept. of Commerce, Division of Labor Law. I did this about 4 yrs ago and was successful. Two women working for the same business were collecting welfare benefits and working full time off the books in a local independant convenience store. You have to have as much information as possible - at the least the physical location where they work and the hours. The investigator first visits the business to observe the employee at work. I killed two birds with one stone. The business was audited and the women both lost their welfare benefits, plus they have to pay back what they have already received. It was great day!

Does the Federal government or any state governments, offer any REWARDS for reporting people obtaining benefits illegally - through fraud ?

If not, maybe it should be considered. Even a few hundred dollars would work. A lot of people would turn in a neighbor, co-worker, ex-boyfriend or whoever, if they could receive a bounty - without giving up their identity.

Then the government could just FINE the person who committed fraud, an additional amount of money, equal to the reward handed out. The person would essentially be paying the fine (reward money) out of their own pocket, in the end.

I meant to say, without giving up their identity to the person who is committing fraud.

Obviously, they would have to identify themselves to the gov't agency, to receive reward money.

No, you don't get a darned dime. I did it for the pure satisfaction. I despise a tax cheat and I despise a welfare cheat. Getting three birds with one stone was immensely pleasurable. You aren't supposed to know the outcome of any investigation. I happened to know someone who was employed (rightfully) along side these women at the same business who kept me apprised of the events.

Thanks all - Im not worried about a reward - it just disgusts me #1 to see people working without contributing the taxes that the rest of us are forced to, and on top of that #2 to be taking advantage of publicly funded programs while laughing at the system just puts it over the top.

I can't tell you how many parents of medicaid patients I've seen who have the newest iPhone or Blackberry. If it were up to me I would require everyone who receives any type of government aid to certify under threat of perjury that they don't have cable television or a smart phone. For a typical digital cable bill with internet you can privately insure two children. Therefore, if you can afford cable tv then you can also afford to provide health insurance for your kids.

the people in question here have cable TV, cell phones, and one drives a 2007 vehicle and the other an '09.

they also collect medicaid, food stamps, and take advantage of St Augustine church's food offerings for the poor.

not paying any taxes on their earnings?

Start with the I.R.S. The business owner as well as the 'free lance' workers will be subject to a ten year migraine. While it's true that this particular fascist bureaucracy is not directly concerned with Medicaid fraud in particular, the fraud will stop for one reason or another.

Billy: I followed your links on Gary Groszewski (GeorgeJetson). I hadn't seen these particular stories before, complete with the photos.

Gary strikes me as being pretty much a broke dick.
