Sad. Really, really sad. I'd like to hear the Free Press's side. There has to be more than what's been reported here.

From the Blade story:
Michael Miller, editor-in-chief of the weekly, refused to answer specific questions about the allegations of plagiarism from The Blade, but released the following statement:An advertorial is a blending of editorial and advertising content. However, the Schwartz columns were not labeled as advertisements in the weekly publication."When we discovered some of Gregg Schwartz's advertorial submissions contained content he paid for through a professional service, we immediately dropped him as a contributor. As Schwartz is a small businessman, not a public figure dealing with news or political events, the separation was handled in-house."
First Schwartz uses the work of others and passes it off as his own. Second, he retaliates against the person who identified it by taking her to the Board of trustees. Dishonest and a turd.
I wonder why this case was treated differently than Neff or the others. IT seems like Neff's column was also "advetorial".
Makes it hard to take the paper seriously when even they admit they have advertorial articles in it.
...which brings us back to this:

please, please, please Free Press.....can we step up our editorial game and catch the journalistic philanderers before our beloved weekly hits the prints.....I am an avid reader and I do not want to abandon my love of this paper for half truths spewed the Blockade.....PLEASE!
weird it's taken so long to get this info out. and as JR cites, this goes back to my comment earlier about local media doing way too many advertorials without properly citing them as such.
"Ms. Linehan said she did not receive a reply to her letter to Mr. Pounds and it wasn't published in the Free Press with other letters to the editor. She said Mr. Schwartz took her letter to former UT board of trustees Chairman Rick Stansley in an effort to get her disciplined.
"What really makes some furious and angry and outraged and makes me feel threatened as an individual is that the Free Press would give Gregg my letter without bothering to answer it and send him on his way to hassle me," she said."
Holy crap. That's CRAZY.
