Remembering the Attack on America

Matthew 24:6 (KJV) "And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet." What we have now is "peace" since there is no war in our homeland. Haven't we always had "rumours of war"? Let us enjoy the peace we have now (in our homeland) because it may not always be so. And while some of us may not enjoy the "peace" we now have in our homeland, it is far preferable to the "security" that we have given the people of Iraq with our presence there. Let us hope that we will never have to see how strong we are as a nation to deal with such day-to-day chaos.

KUTV) SALT LAKE CITY - Several Utah schools have decided to let Sept. 11, 2007 pass without observing the sixth anniversary of the unprecedented terror attacks against the United States -- over fear of re-kindling the haunting memories for those who vaguely remember them, or introducing them to children who weren't born yet.

I started blogging in early September 2001. That blog is no longer on the Web, but I found my old postings that I had saved in a .zip file. I used Greymatter as my blogging tool back then.

I also dug out my 1300-word Sep 11, 2001 blog posting I made a little before Noon on that day. I just now reread it, and it's a bit mushy. It must have been the events of that morning because I sound like a wimp. I didn't even go to work that day. I'm not a morning person except for birding, fishing, and Cedar Point, so I always got into work late, and I worked late into the evening. So I was just starting to get ready for work at 9:00 a.m. when I heard the news on the radio. And then I was glued to the TV, the radio, and the Internet until about 4:00 a.m. Sep 12.

Some believe that those Sep 11, 2001 attacks jump-started blogging as people had things they wanted to say in the days, weeks, and months afterward. Not many personal blogs existed then. A lot of my Web activity in the late afternoon and evening of Sep 11, 2001 consisted of reading Slashdot as people in NYC were posting their chilling eyewitness accounts. Here are the Sep 11, 2001 Slashdot threads, which consists of seven threads that contain a total of nearly 6000 comments.

Here are a couple other community sites that had a good bit of activity that day, but I didn't read these sites back then. I think I discovered both of these community sites after Sep 11, 2001.

I was on vacation that week. My sister called me to tell me that a jet had crashed into the World Trade Center. I turned on the tv, and saw two "talking heads" in front of a video of smoke coming out of one of the towers. It went to a picture of President Bush with some little kids. I stayed glued to the tv from tha moment on.

When I got back to work a few days later the way we moved mail had changed. I remember it took a few days for the new system to reduce the backlog of mail, and security became more of a concern.

In 1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by a Muslim
In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by Muslims
In 1979, the US embassy in Iran was taken over by Muslims
During the 1980's a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by Muslims
In 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by Muslims
In 1985 the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by Muslims
In 1985 TWA flight 847 was hijacked at Athens, and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by Muslims
In 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by Muslims
In 1993 the World Trade Center was bombed for the first time by Muslims
In 1998, the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslims
On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked. Two were used as missiles to take out the World Trade Centers, one crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers. All hijackers were Muslims
In 2002 reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by Muslims
In 2004, the Spain Railway bombings were done by Muslims
The 2005 London Railway bombings were done by Muslims
Who has declared Jihad (death) to the 'infidels' (those that don't believe in the Koran or the beliefs of Mohammed)? Yup! Muslims

I doubt you actually sounded like a wimp, but were caught up in the emotion of the day like everyone else.

In any event, it'd be interesting reading the post. Can you re-post it here?

I see the pattern and so do jhostetler and chris99. But, there the reason this country will come to an end and be ruled by Islam. They fail to call a spade a spade in fear of being politically incorrect.

Ha ha, I've hardly been called politically correct. I'm usually the one that points out how Christians and Jews, etc have blood on their hands too. Hardly politically correct, but thanks
